    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are great and very flexible with hours.

    Cons

Discrimination is a big issue and many of the managers are protected.

    Advice to Management

Take a bit more time to see what problems are going on in the company and the people that are resigning. A lot of good/great people are unhappy, many stay because they have bills to pay. But many like myself with health issues can't afford anymore health issues and staying in the company will add to the issues I already have.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pays not bad if you're aggressive, discounts and rewards for getting credit cards, good way to meet people

    Cons

Macy's will make excuses for people with the worst attitudes, they make you come in an hour before the store opens to do fulfillment (which counts against your sales, effectively robbing their associates of money), and its a small ticket environment which is the worst competitive areas in all of retail. Do not work for this company, it is a truly toxic work environment.

    Advice to Management

Fire people who deserve it, stop making excuses for them, stop robbing your commission associates of pay, and actually educate your managers.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I met some amazing people with amazing personalities.

    Cons

When I was hired there was no problem until the manager that hired me was gossiping about me to everyone and told everyone that I was female instead of male because I am an androgynous woman. I was wondering why everyone would look at me crazy my first 2 weeks of walking into work but now I know why. I was pulled to the side numerous times by one of the managers for no reason and spoken to about my sexual preference and making remarks regarding my androgyny and was told I should wear a dress instead of dressing like a male because I am a woman and why I wear cologne instead of wearing perfume because I'm not a man. For some reason this woman had a strong hatred for me, she's very manipulative woman. I asked for a time correction sheet because I tried to clock in on the new system but it wasn't allowing me to and she denied my request. I was also followed around the work place by the manager and a "my shop captain" that constantly gossiped about me. I'll go down stairs for 60 seconds and I turned around and she's literally in my face. This experience at Macy's has cause me to have anxiety and depression and this is no place for anyone who wants to succeed in life without toxic managers and individuals who have nothing else to do but mentally torture young people in a workplace.

    Advice to Management

for Macy's to be a big corporate company, you guys need to watch who you hire. People like that will result in lawsuits toward the company.
