    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Macy's was my first job and I would recommend. Excellent management, great discounts, and usually great coworkers (besides holiday associates).

    Cons

Some of the downsides I experienced was being asked last minute to come in or being scheduled last minute without my knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing your employee appreciation events, they do help.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee discount, being able to pick up and advertise shifts to meet ypur need.

    Cons

PAY, managers are always on you to do something when they do nothing. Opening really late during the holiday even when there are barely customers around. HR staying open until store close.

    Advice to Management

Do your job, period. Stop telling your associates what to do like a dog and listen to them and work with them. Try to push higher up when you get the chance to voice your employees concern instead of trying to sweep everything under the rug and make things look glassy when there is a walk through.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Macy's carries a lot of nice products and I enjoyed learning about the inventory. It was also a good experience to work for such a large company.

    Cons

Poor management (at least at my store), disorganization, lack of assistance available while training, lack of employees on the floor at most times. Also, the company does not seem to be doing too well in general.

    Advice to Management

I think that management really needs to step up more and show more concern for the departments which they are managing. It is difficult for sales associates to feel motivated to do a good job when managers do not seem to be.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great discount. Flexible hours and time off.

    Cons

Working on holidays, especially since they keep opening earlier and earlier. Training system isn't great, you are kind of thrown in there. They seem to only advance those who play the game then those who are right for the job. There is so much red tape that it's hard to get things done. Also It's like talking to a wall when talking to corporate.

    Advice to Management

Listen to more to the people who are in the trenches actually dealing with the customers.
