    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee discount, being able to pick up and advertise shifts to meet ypur need.

    Cons

PAY, managers are always on you to do something when they do nothing. Opening really late during the holiday even when there are barely customers around. HR staying open until store close.

    Advice to Management

Do your job, period. Stop telling your associates what to do like a dog and listen to them and work with them. Try to push higher up when you get the chance to voice your employees concern instead of trying to sweep everything under the rug and make things look glassy when there is a walk through.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount is of the best in the retail industry. Training is based on STAR principles which provide a lot of knowledge in costumer service that can be applied in many situations. They have flexible positions, and their work policies are very comprehensive.

    Cons

Retail can be quite exhausting, breaks could have been implemented better, for the discount you must open a Macys account or have a prepaid account

    Advice to Management

Value your good employees, that is how you build a strong team. Not everyone is the same, do not treat everyone with a blind eye.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule and employee discount for the store i would say. I cant think of any more besides these from macys

    Cons

Managers are completely baised and treat you upon their personal interest. But some of them are wise too which I respect and managers are busy gossipping about employees with other employees which i think is not professional and instead of helping its workers they are busy shopping while they are on duty.

    Advice to Management

Employees need to be awarded what they have earned. I made my goal over the plan but I was terminated just a week before I could get my bonus for the last month goal which doesnt make sense to me. In my opinion, this place is not fair for any hard working people and gain nothing at the end even after making goals. It is completely like wasting all of my effort I did as a specialist. Macys does not deserve to get hardworking people.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic employee discount, got along great with most coworkers and even friends with some of them years later. The management is great about giving proper breaks/lunches.

    Cons

Corporate gives very few hours compared to how long tasks actually take so nothing is ever quite down how it is supposed to be. Its not just a matter of poor work ethic, the paperwork for unloading a truck for example will say "50 hours to complete" and yet we will only get 30 man-hours and management is expected to schedule people according to the hours we get and get everything done without a hiccup.

    Advice to Management

Corporate/Regional managers should spend more time working WITH the Store leadership to see why things are being completed halfway, and adjust their own expectations. While things can be fudged and made up some of the time, that usually isnt the case when every department is short staffed for how much work is required.
