    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My coworkers we're the best part of working there.

    Cons

Pushing getting credits down your throat. Low pay. Lay offs after inventory,no matter how excellent your sales were or how hard you've worked! Bad corporate ethics

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the hard work employees put in instead of pushing the credits!

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved my time working at Macy's as a Sales Associate. My location had great managers and fun co-workers. The sales were awesome and my discounts saved me hundreds of $$.

    Cons

With the mandated minimum wage increase at the beginning of year, most the new hires were making as much as I was after 5 years. So suffice it to say that retail pay increases are very hard to come by. I can find jobs making more easily but I miss my retail family.

    Advice to Management

Do your salary comps to keep the pay fair.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The up side to working at Macy's: very stable, good benefits, great opportunity for growth in company and seasonal training. There are also many locations country wide, transferring is easy.

    Cons

The down side to working at Macy's are unreliable schedule, health benefits change from state to state, and can be very stressful.

    Advice to Management

In my career at Macy's I have had an average of one promotion per year, and made it to management quickly and easily with good work ethic.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Macy's is like a big family. Great managers. Good training. If you want, they promote from within.

    Cons

Not enough challenges. No consistent access to sales numbers. A little behind the times regarding local social media. Some displays are old and out of date. Macy's building itself at Coddingtown Mall needs updating. The exterior is in need of some TLC. Not a great quality clothing selection, so the Clarins customer tends to go to Marin to shop. Working retail is not good for a balanced work life.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for the support, great management.

    Cons

    Good Job!

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interview process was a piece of cake, job was reasonably easy, you get out of the job what you put in to it.

    Cons

Lack of hands on training, and you were kind of just thrown into the job. I was used to that but I assumed that a big department store would have more rules.

    Advice to Management

Try to take time out of your day to really help guide the employees. You do have some employees that really have a passion for what they do and want to know and learn more.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

fabulous product. great structure. effective HR team. plenty of room for advancement

    Cons

High pressure to open in-house credit, HIGH turnover, competition for sales overwhelming is bad economy

    Advice to Management

It would help morale, retention, time and attendance, customer satisfaction and revenues if executive team connected with their team and spent more time on the floor

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Guaranteed hours if full time. Co-workers I worked with were a happy group. Department manager decent.

    Cons

Upper Management only concerned with sales not the employee. Expect you to push their credit card and when I say push I mean PUSH.

    Advice to Management

Offer encouragement to younger employees and educated about further possibilities with company
