I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great management and employees. The managers took time to consider every worker, and were more than flexible with giving more hours when you needed it. Best group of people I have ever worked with - kind, considerate and fun.

    Cons

Weekends and Holidays you have to work unless you take time off because those are when the biggest sales are. Naturally, you have to push credit cards and membership which can be annoying to some customers. Its retail so you never know who you will get as a customer.

    Advice to Management

More than two people need to be assigned to a section. It is difficult especially around weekends, holidays and big events like prom/graduation etc. to keep the selling floor stocked and the dressing rooms clean, while still waiting on customers.

I have been working at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I am a Flex Team cosmetics sales associate. I work for Macy's only, and not for any particular cosmetics line. The pay is competitive for retail. I make 3% commision on sales for all lines in the department, and the counter managers at our store are the best I have ever worked with (I have done this work off and on since 1987). The management is good (not great, not poor). I love being able to sample all the products...

    Cons

Flex Team cosmeticians do not get to go to the vendor trainings that people working for the various lines do, so we have to pick up knowledge where and when we can. Though we can make commision on all sales, we have to use our judgement as to when to make a sale or give it to someone working for a particular line. They have sales goals and we do not. So, a person doing this work definitely needs maturity and good judgment!...

    Advice to Management

Meet with the entire department to discuss and come to consensus as to the role of Flex Team employees vis-a-vis commission, who takes what sales, etc. At least give FlexTeam cosmeticians passwords to on-line training/product info sites. I know NH state law is strict on having people work "off the clock," so you cannot require people to look at this info, but at least give us access!! Also, and this is for national corporate...

    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

Tons of turnover so if you are looking for a job, you will most likely get hired.

    Cons

What you are told at the interview is not what happens once you start working.

    Advice to Management

    Do as you say.

I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The employee discounts are awesome. The online scheduling system is so convenient and provides you with so much information. The management was very friendly and professional, the store manager was such a gentleman.

    Cons

The pay was not very good, barely over minimum wage. At the beginning of my employment I was giving a lot of hour right off the bat due to sales, and I was not expecting that.

I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

They're very respectable to their employees and give very reasonable breaks. There is also room to move around between departments so one does not necessarily feel stagnant and bored all the time. The change in scenery is always a plus!

    Cons

It can be difficult to get a full week's worth of work because of the system they use. Seasonal positions have to scramble onto the computers to sign up for positions. If you're not fast enough or are new to the company, it is easy to find yourself with a two day work week,

  7. It was a very pleasant experience. I loved it

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

The discount, the opportunities to volunteer within the community, how Macy's gives back.

    Cons

Too much going on: the sales goals in my department are often extremely high, and there are so many associates on that people frequently post themselves at the registers and refuse to move to make goal. Macy's has you making your sales goal, opening numerous credits (I was told when I first started as a PART-TIMER with 13 hours a week I needed to open four credits per week), and connecting with customers; in addition,...
