    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, minimal supervision, self-paced work environment, great Macy's Money incentives

    Cons

    Unprofessionalism in the work environment

    Advice to Management

Make all employees feel welcome and feel they are a part of a team, it is as simple as speaking to employees in passing or taking the time out to learn what role they fill in the company

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you like clothes, you'll have fun seeing all the new collections come in and scoring deals with your employee discount. The hours are flexible. You earn Macy's Money for getting customers to open credit card accounts.

    Cons

It's retail. You deal with rude customers and understaffed weekends and have a lot of responsibilities. I can't tell you how many times customers come to me to buy items from different departments saying they can't find anyone working in any other area. From the moment you clock in you're pulling orders, working on making presale goals, making sales goals, making credit application goals, recovering the area, calling clients, retagging items, cleaning up the piles upon piles of clothing left on the fitting room floor by customers, not to mention helping people at the register, and half of the time the registers or keypads aren't working... Often times, it feels like too much work for too little pay. The managers try to make it fun and give treats or goody bags if you reach credit goals but it's hard work. This is only my part time job so I can't imagine someone actually making a living off a Macy's paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Please, hire more employees and people who are hard workers! Understaffed weekends are the worst, for both customers and employees!

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great employee discount, friendly managers, high foot traffic area contributes a lot to achieving or exceeding sale goal.

    Cons

Very low pay, $8~$9/hr, NO hope to get a raise since CEO against the idea of raising minimum wage. You may better off getting a job at Walmart or TJ-Maxx with a minimum pay starts at $10.50/hr. Customers are not always nice.

    Advice to Management

Please consider about your employees' well being, especially the lowest rank like Sale Associates! How do expect us to support ourselves and our family with your low pay ~$9/hr??? If we can't make enough living, how will we provide excellent customer service?

    Pros

Flexible work hours, interesting and varied responsibilites

    Cons

The horrible customer service of the credit company Macy's has contracted often reflects on local stores and AST has to deal with the aftermath. Very low pay, not commiserate with responsibility.
