    Pros

Great benefits, fun work environment- people will become your family. Great opportunities for advancement if you work hard.

    Cons

Proven difficult to switch career paths if your interests change- there is favoritism to a certain extent and you must be able to manage through political environment to succeed and advance.

    Advice to Management

Follow the same advice that you give and always recognize your hardest working employees.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great perks like flexible schedules, work from home, and summer hours. Excellent maternity leave, paid time off and unlimited sick days.

    Cons

Company culture leaves a lot to be desired. Office politics heavily contribute to promotions, sometimes making it difficult to move around.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Although I didn't work for Corporate, it was a delight to engage with them while on the floor. Many of them introduced themselves to me, asked about my previous work experience and offered advice.

    Cons

Some of the Non Corporate Staff(minorities especially) behaved unprofessional, was extremely jealous of my employment background, made ignorant statements and was aggressively controlling towards me. What a disgrace to the retail industry.

    Advice to Management

There is a need for more diversity training, regulation and monitoring of staff behavior on the floor. After I resigned from Macy's, I remained a consumer to experience that many of the workers would target me while shopping at the Kings Plaza or 34th street location. I'm not sure who was doing it, but I know for sure the person watching the surveillance cameras was pointing these ill-behaved retail workers to harass me. I've been a consumer for over thirty years and don't plan to return because either Macy's doesn't know how to control or encourages the behavior of their staff, which paints Macy's in a negative light. My hard earned cash will remain in my pocket.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    * Chance to work with a whole line of clothes, setting the floor and filling stock on the floor- really busy and fun experience.
    * Beautiful store (Herald Square) and is well taken care of. Goes a long way.
    * Co-workers and managers (and floor managers) are very welcoming and kind. Genuine people who, if you actually act like you want to be there, will be a lot of fun to work with. The Floor/Sales managers are really fun people, too.

    Cons

    * Communication with managers is difficult as the managers are always somewhere else. Retail is difficult in that way. Does have an effect on business and productivity.
    * Do not work the day unless your clock in is legit. If it's not legit they will not pay you and they will not tell you that you just worked for free. It took me two months to get paid when there was a mistake in my clock in (keep your clock in receipts!).

    Pros

Love of retail, up to 30% bonus potential based upon sales and margin results

    Cons

Overworked due to neverending downsizing of staff, resulting in 12 hour + work days. No loyalty to long term workers. Favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Millennials alone are not the answer to the company's problems.
