I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people are great, Macy's is very community involved, volunteerism is encouraged. The benefits are middle of the road. Some marketing jobs have chance for advancement, not so much in the creative area which is siloed and can be immovable.

    Cons

Con's depend on which area you are in. Merchant Buyers have the reputation for being very well trained and the computerization of reports that can be pulled is extensive but results are the name of the game & turnover contiues. The ongoing job cuts have had a negative effect on morale.

    Advice to Management

Your people are demoralized by continuing atmosphere of downsizing gloom. You let go some of your best cheerleading people-centric executives, do something or you will be bleeding people you can't afford to lose.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PTOs, summer fridays, competitive pay, work-life flexibility

    Cons

The culture is extremely slow, impossible to get anything new accomplished, too many levels to get anything approved, you can't make any of your own decisions, not a creative work environment, inconsistent vision that is not carried through, nothing changes here

    Advice to Management

let go and allow people to do their jobs and manage themselves

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone works in team. The staff is quiet friendly, energetic and full of spirit. Supervisor always work with your schedule

    Cons

It can get pretty hectic there, especially during holidays and big sales. The line can be very long and not enough employee to cover the floor at time
