    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Corporate Discount. Summer Fridays. Depending on department, great team support.

    Cons

Employees with the job title "Digital Merchandise Assistant" is often not respected for their hard work. The role is limited and highly repetitive and it's difficult to be promoted from this role. The only path to promotion is the EDP program, however recent college grads and interns are more likely to be accepted into the program. Due to the low acceptance rate for this program, there is a "hunger games" like atmosphere among the DMAs. Employee promotions are often not merit based.
Also, the title for this role is only digital in name, there is no emphasis on learning about business strategy. Business decisions are based on store performance first before online.

    Advice to Management

Stop leading the DMAs on there is growth from this role, be honest. Internal systems and processes needs improvement.

    Advice to Management

    I had a great manager

I worked at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good place to gain experience if your new and have thick skin.

    Cons

Most retail are struggling and Macy's is a large and old company with the typical leadership problems that burn out their employees and refuse to fully hire vs contract. I feel sorry for the salaried employees as anything not done by us hourly/contract workers falls on them

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good employee discount (20% off) with additional % off days. PTO 20 days, Work from home flexibility and Summer Fridays.

    Cons

No job growth, easy to get stuck. Managers don't really support your career development. Pretty much no HR pyramid if you have issues or complaints. Assistant level not eligible for annual bonus, only Associate level and up.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to all levels of your org. The Assistants are the ones doing the grunt work for the company, if you slack off on developing them and promoting, they will leave.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Vacation days. 401k. Corporate card.

    Cons

Has the worst management of all time. The company has NO HUMAN RESOURCE department. Every single issue goes through as a “case” and takes weeks to get resolved. No one cares about your growth and development. The pay is an absolute joke. The company is stuck in its ways of doing things old school and will never budge.

A lot of "covering up" to protect management
