Nice for a part-time or side gig

    Pros

-Great discount. If you are a shopper, this is the place to be. 20-30% off of every purchase everyday and that's in addition to using coupons and Macy money. As an employee, there is no reason to ever pay more than 50% for anything. -Really flexible schedule. With the new MSP system, you pretty much decide when you want to work. Unless it's a key day like a One Day Sale or Black Friday (which will be locked in the system) you are free to drop shifts, pick up shifts, swap shifts with your co-workers and schedule your own vacation without a manager's approval

    Cons

-Low pay. You will start at $8 an hour no matter how many years of retail experience you have. Raises are hard to get as you have to meet ridiculous goals for sales and credit applications to get them and the max you get is 55 cents a year. -Management has unrealistic expectations most of the time, especially when it comes to credit. A lot of the younger managers are trainees fresh from college who have no prior retail experience and have no idea what's going on. They have no more business running the store than the other 20-somethings who are working as associates.

    Pros

Received occasional gratis from Account Executive and was sent to Bobbi school.

    Cons

You had to be approved for a credit card to use you store discount. The only way to enter/exit the store as an employee was thru steps, so I'm not sure how anyone who is pregnant or handicap would be able to do this.

    Pros

My co workers for the most part were helpful in teaching me the register and store policies. I learned a lot about retail while employed at Macys.

    Cons

A very hard company to get into. My manager was very hard to speak with. A huge emphasis is placed on sales quotas and how many credit cards an associate opened that day.

    Pros

Fun, team oriented, discounts/ Macy money. Security was very attentive and would walk you to your car if you wanted them to at night.

    Cons

Credit cards!!! Wanted us to get an unreal amount of applications. Everyone either already has one or doesn't want any credit card period.
