    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was low for biggest shopping season of the year.

    Cons

Standing should be limited to 1 hour for security and associates.

    Advice to Management

Raise pay per hour for seasonal employees. Include them in contest.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of interaction with the public to build customer service skills and experience new cultures. Know that your making a difference in the world helping to keep thieves from stealing and causing prices of products to sky rocket.

    Cons

Standing more or less in the same spot all day, not able to do much beyond observe and report, lots of policies are inconsistent with goals of the department. Also limited to no room to grow

    Advice to Management

Recognize workers that have provided superb and reliable service to the company and offer them opportunities to advance instead of hiring outside. Also discontinue the seemingly popular practice of managers offering non-existent opportunities for growth.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexibility
    People whom you work with

    Cons

    A little tiring
I see pregnant women who have to stand, the employers should give them high chairs to sit on.

    Advice to Management

Involve yourself more on the floor, get in touch with the people.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Straightforward job
Lots of downtime outside of peak season
    Good exercise, not too strenuous
Lunches and breaks enforced and guaranteed
    Entry-level, trainable
    Weekly pay

    Cons

Lack of funding for new technology leads to inefficiency
    Occasional “office politics,” mixed communication
Can be physically demanding at times, depending on shift and officers available
Hours scheduled weekly, subject to change
Hours based on all employee availability,
Hours may be cut outside of peak season

    Advice to Management

Please communicate with your associates and fellow managers, especially in regards to deadlines and expectations. Corporate, please don’t be so stingy when it comes to improving facilities. Innovation is insurance, money spent on improvements now is money saved from disasters later.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's an easy job, very friendly people, one hour lunch breaks, and an eventual 20 minute break.

    Cons

Unpaid lunches, favoritism, low pay for a very big company with not much benefits. Pay your employees more money.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Met some cool people, got experience dealing with theft, and learning how to deal with shoplifters in a Asset Protection setting.

    Cons

Wasn’t given my schedule until the day before I️ was supposed to work, was told I’d be able to work 15-20 hours, but ended up being 8 hours a week, didn’t feel part of the team, and wasn’t given a chance to do more then stand around at a door and watch people for my shifts.

    Advice to Management

Don’t give people their schedule so late.

    I worked at Macy's part-time

    Pros

    Discount is pretty good
    Most coworkers are awesome

    Cons

    Management
    Lack of promotion from within

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to your employees or talk down to them

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours with their online bidding system.

    Cons

If you don't "bid" for the good shifts at the moment they are available (usually midnight) you could find yourself with 5 of the 7 days in a week off... shifts go fast. Pay is also low, and women associates in the same position have confirmed their salary is $1/hr less (if not worse). The highest priority is convincing customers to sign up for a credit card.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better, and offer more hours.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

20% Discount. Access to some good resources and other discounts. Learned a lot. Get to see all sides of the businesss.

    Cons

High turnover for officers and management so always hiring. Lack of communication. Little work life balance. Low pay. Expensive health benefits.
