    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you work in cosmetics, you receive a ton of gratis, which is a nice supplement until you realize that's all you get

    Cons

The absent management, horrible hours, no money, work all holidays, on your feet with few breaks. Store chronically understaffed. Very young management staff...They need far more direction. Buy

    Advice to Management

Look to competetors for benchmarking. You'll need serious help.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Save yourself from experiencing any pros by not applying to this company they're horrible in the sense that they don't hold people accountable for their actions

    Cons

The managers aren't held accountable for their inappropriate behavior my manager came onto me forcefully and after talking to hr I quit and they still employed him I should seek an attorney

    Advice to Management

Screen your employees better so you don't hire creepers the manager had previous incidents and even after mine they still employed him such a sad company

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, decent pay, great sales associates, and

    Cons

If you are not a college recruit or sycophant then you wont move up. Senior management promotes on favoritism and not performance. Senior management do not manage and are not trained. Worst management I have ever seen

    Advice to Management

You are there to run a business and not lolly gag around. Senior management stop the favoritism (its unprofessional and everyone sees it). Senior management start to practice what you preach (stop being hypocrites). Stop hiding in your office texting and being on social media all day but instead be active on the sales floor. Much of the store does not know who the senior management team is.

    Cons

low staffing levels...at times I was the only associate on 2nd floor covering 3 dept. security is always looking for your mistakes so you can be fired

    Advice to Management

Truly listen and follow up and do what you say you are going to do

    Pros

Fantastic comradeship. Management team really care about all employees.

    Cons

I did not experience or see anything that I could say was a con working for Macy's. I would have liked to be able to overlap longer shifts on the electronic schedule.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

In my role, I've always felt empowered to make the right decisions for the needs of the business. No micromanaging.

It's also a very inclusive company who hires people based on their merits and not on their appearance. They have a lot of community give-back campaigns.

    Cons

If you work in the stores, there just isn't enough support to get the job done. Over the last few years, they've eliminated a lot of positions. Those of us that are left are expected to pick up the slack. It can be overwhelming at times.

    Advice to Management

Cutting people from existing stores that aren't being closed is a mistake. These are people making magic with your customers and who have their hands on your merchandise making it look good.
