I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very fun environment. Room to grow.

    Cons

Managers don't like helping associates from a department that isn't theirs.

    Advice to Management

Help associates from other departments when necessary. Some departments don't always have a manager available. It's very inconvenient and a hassle when a customer needs help from a higher up. We call for a reason.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedules; you can pick up or advertise shifts if you don't want to work a certain day. Thats pretty much it.

    Cons

Very competitive; sales goals but no commission unless you work in shoes or cosmetics. Also no paid sick days. On busy sales days sometimes you'll be the only one schedules to work in an area even if its your first day or week.

    Cons

Management changes wreak havoc through out the store little or no training consistent pressure to reach or exceed goals that are unattainable Support associates are unrecognized an just considered bodies worked in retail 25 years and this is the worst organization I have ever worked for

    Advice to Management

Need to check the employee engagement surveys and ACT ON THE we voiced our opinion and it keeps getting worse

    Pros

Macy's provides you with the skills and training basics in order to do your job. One of the training programs is MAGIC training it may not seem like much when your learning it but honestly, Macy's is a huge well known company. There is a reason why they would spend that much money to get the program out and have every single employee go though these trainings/class continuously. Learn the skills because if you use that there at Macys you can also bring it with you wherever else you decide to work after.

    Cons

Promotions are very limited, most of the employees I worked with have been there for years and hold a position as a specialist. Management is always changing most transfer from store to store. Not much room for advancement if you plan to stay at the same location.

    Advice to Management

To remain professional at all times. Giving more recognition to employees not just for making sales or opening up the most credit accounts. Also, build employees and give them skills in order to move up and advance there career.
