    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I met some amazing people with amazing personalities.

    Cons

When I was hired there was no problem until the manager that hired me was gossiping about me to everyone and told everyone that I was female instead of male because I am an androgynous woman. I was wondering why everyone would look at me crazy my first 2 weeks of walking into work but now I know why. I was pulled to the side numerous times by one of the managers for no reason and spoken to about my sexual preference and making remarks regarding my androgyny and was told I should wear a dress instead of dressing like a male because I am a woman and why I wear cologne instead of wearing perfume because I'm not a man. For some reason this woman had a strong hatred for me, she's very manipulative woman. I asked for a time correction sheet because I tried to clock in on the new system but it wasn't allowing me to and she denied my request. I was also followed around the work place by the manager and a "my shop captain" that constantly gossiped about me. I'll go down stairs for 60 seconds and I turned around and she's literally in my face. This experience at Macy's has cause me to have anxiety and depression and this is no place for anyone who wants to succeed in life without toxic managers and individuals who have nothing else to do but mentally torture young people in a workplace.

    Advice to Management

for Macy's to be a big corporate company, you guys need to watch who you hire. People like that will result in lawsuits toward the company.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I like my boss which is usually a miss in retail because the managers and store managers are usually rude. The store is a beauty. It's so advanced and the crew is happy for a retail store.

    Cons

I haven't encountered any yet. When I do, I'll be back for an edit.

    Advice to Management

Stay awesome. Everything going on in that store is great. Keep it up. One of my fave jobs so far.

    Pros

Relax job setting that you control your income, your like your own boss and you make lasting connecting with a prestigious clientele. You get paid weekly and make incentives on alot of different aspects of the metrics.

    Cons

It's a cut throat setting and it has a drawl versus commission pay style not everyone will appreciate that pay style.

    Advice to Management

Management sometimes (specific to individual) need to be more of a leader than trying to be a boss.

    Cons

cosmetic counter schedules should not be based on the counter it should be the same for all managers

I worked at Macy's (More than a year)

    Pros

The gratis that's really about it

    Cons

What isn't wrong with working at Macy's they are unprofessional and only care about opening up credit cards even if the person can't afford it Macy's is all about money they are a money hungry company and hire anyone even people who have been charged with 3 counts of having sex with a minor

    Advice to Management

Need to do better background checks

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Can pick up shifts online. Majority managers are friendly. Easy clock in/clock out. Additional 20% associate discount on all items.

    Cons

How can I start? Although a majority of managers are nice there are a few that need training on how to treat employees. When they are not treated right they feel unappreciated. Associates are underpaid (min wage or close to) and commission is taken away when a customer returns an item (no matter the reason for the return). Lastly, more hand on training needed. Currently there are video tutorials and you are thrown into the department.

    Advice to Management

More lower management training, commission reform and salary raise.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great at balancing life and work.
    Quite the diverse workforce.
Outgoing work for the charismatic individual.

    Cons

Not quite the challenging and boring at times.
Need more workers most of the time.
Customers display too much gusto and self-entitlement sometimes.

    Advice to Management

It gets hectic on some departments sometimes, hiring ringers is sometimes much needed and the gigantic force on associates to open Macy's cards is a nuisance.

I worked at Macy's (More than a year)

    Pros

Macy's allows you to make your own schedule and you can pick and drop shifts as well.

    Cons

They don't have an unexcused absence policy. They have a point system and each absence is 1 point so if you have an emergency and 0 points, you will get fired!
