    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

FIVE star support/encouragement/coaching from management; outstanding resources available in-store and online; internal promotions are always considered during the hiring process. Corporate members take the time to interact with employees- your opinion matters!

    Cons

Some- but not ALL essential resources are communicated. Many tools provided are self-unconverted through research. Such as: child care, cost-effective health alternatives, scholarships, and tuition discounts

    Advice to Management

ON-BOARDING/TRAINING: complete the , I was under the impression, some managers assumed that, just because the necessary online-training modules were completed and accounted for, they did not have to exert additional training beyond that point. Please take into consideration that people learn differently. Not everyone is a visual learner- many are kinesthetic. Training on a computer for more than a couple hours is NOT affective. Information retained is little to none. There needs to be an equal rotation of sales floor and computer training.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

    Many nice and friendly/well-educated coworkers.
This leads to a overall Hospitality spirit that may not be warranted based on the lousy pay.
    20% employee discount.

    Cons

Lousy pay which leads to low morale.
Benefits are expensive to purchase and have deducted from your paycheck.
You are paid so poorly you can't afford to purchase the items they have in the store!
Work here and join the working class poor

    Advice to Management

This is a company that makes money hand-over-fist.
Why not take care of your employees by paying them a livable wage!
They are one of the major reasons why a Macy's store can't have exceptional sales
    volume.
Your employees and fine products are the reason why people come to Macys.
You pay them so poorly which belies an insult to your employees.
There will come a time when you will not have any kind of good employee because the pay is so poor no one would want to work there

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amicable, hardworking and loyal employees makes the hours goes by.

    Cons

There is no respect to temporary personnel. Monopoly of hours, Schedule preference is given to friends. No opportunity for advancement, learning of new tasks or new experience is notorious. Very disorganized work environment.

    Advice to Management

Please, assess your employees skills, you'll be surprised how much talent is wasted due to poor leadership, who is only worried to look good as a single member. The teamwork is there, the drive to do a great job is there, but it seems like management is too busy to notice...

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not a lot of work if you're in Housewares. If you're in clothes, you get a lot of commission from sales and some associates are fun to work with.

    Cons

Poor management, most associates keep trying to steal your sale to get commission. Some annoying customers always want to talk to the manager to get any discounts on top of what ever they're already getting.

    Advice to Management

Increase the hourly pay and hire good managers

    occasionally you get friendly coworkers
you receive an okay store discount

    Cons

    low pay
    no hours
managers don't give you time of day
expect you to get too many things done in no time
    no communication
coworkers show lack of interest and passion
you're expected to know how to do everything from day 1
high turnover rate means managers are less likely to care

    Advice to Management

listen to employees for once and don't put out hiring ads when you refuse to give any hours to current employees.

  7. "Seasonal job at Macys.. In Pompano This was a terrible experience."

    Pros

Only one I can think of... The employee discount.

    Cons

Long hours. Poor management. rude permanent fellow employees.

    Advice to Management

Do not treat your seasonal help so poorly, because now that the holiday season is over we once again become your customer's.. I was promised plenty of hours, but once I completed the training for the department I was mainly hired for ,my department manager give me no more than 10 hours a week. In my initial interview she looked me in the eyes and told me not to worry I would have 40 hours. She lied to me as I found out afterwards no one gets 40 hours because they do not want to pay overtime. Very early morning shifts or very late night shifts.
