I worked at Macy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working at the makeup department is nicer, the schedule is very flexible, and we make more money than other employees. Also, we make a small commission when we sell makeup/cosmetics.

    Cons

With time, they started to hire less and less people to work there, so sometimes we need to work at other departments (like the show department) when we are not "supposed" too.

I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

It was ok and fun at times

    Cons

Constant pressure to reach sales goals and to open credit accounts. Yet no appreciation when you exceed them. Low quantity of merchandise in stock. Underemployed many times and forced to cover more areas than possible for one person. It's dirty and employees are lazy. They sit around and gossip to much especially about people who do their job well. management is more concerned with politics than with how they treat the...

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Macy's part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great work environment; good pay for the work you do; friendly co-workers and managers

    Cons

Focuses on sales goals to the exclusion of customer service; pressures associates to offer credit to customers who do not want a department store card; expects you to do the work that normally is done by multiple employees at other companies (i.e., stocking, merchandising, sales, cashiering, customer service, etc).

    Advice to Management

Streamline the sales process and focus more on customer service and customer satisfaction and less on meeting sales metrics.

I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

You can have flexible schedules which works great when you're going to school. The people are generally really friendly who you work with.

    Cons

It was really low pay unless you are a manager which is almost impossible to be unless you have connections.

    Advice to Management

Help create better mid-level management so that employees will be happier working there. Helping the employees feel like they mean more to the company would be a great addition.
