    Pros

Everyone I worked with was really friendly, mostly older women, among with some younger girls, we all got really along.

    Cons

Costumers were pretty rude sometimes since it was it is in a rich part of our city, but most of the time everyone was nice.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I liked the 20% employee discount, I could always find good deals. And I really liked the store manager as well, she seemed to be the only one that cared.

    Cons

The associates that have been working there 10+ years tend to be extremely rude to newcomers. It's like someone is going to steal their territory and they will really fight for it, aka they will make your life impossible there. Did I mention that I am talking about positions that are not even commission. They will even teach you to do things wrong on purpose.

The associates are overloaded with work for that super low hourly pay. The fitting rooms are always a mess.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the associates and try to hear their ideas and suggestions, because they are the ones who are in contact every day with customers. Find a system to make the fitting rooms more organized, don't throw all the weight into the sales person's shoulders, they can only do so much at a time.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only pro was the coworkers I worked with. Their jokes made me laugh when I wanted to scream from frustration.

    Cons

Everything, starting with the pay. You can't live on what they pay you, even if you're full time. Part timers usually work another job to make ends meet. The management is constantly on your back about Macy's cards. Not everyone wants a Macy's card and most people get annoyed when you ask if hey want one. Don't let management hear you say that though. You have to get a "star" (get someone gullible enough to apply for a Macy's credit card) or else.

Your schedule will change week by week and is inconsistent each day. One day you'll be working in the morning, the next day you'll be working from afternoon until closing. It's close to impossible to make plans in your personal life because of the constantly changing schedule.

It's called retail hell for a reason. The customers are rude and entitled. They will yell at you if they can't use their coupons and management doesn't have your back. After being told no to change prices, they'll tell you to do it anyway and you look like a complete fool in front of customers after telling them you can't do it because it's store policy. I became a misanthrope after dealing with rude customers who made the dressing rooms a mess and leaving their garbage behind. People are pigs.

    Advice to Management

Treat your workers like human beings. Don't treat them like Macy's credit card opening machines and have their backs when a belligerent customer is demanding to return clothes without tags or a receipt. Just be a decent human being and stop being a corporate butt kisser.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

20% employee discount, opportunity to earn additional discounts, great system for self managing your schedule, friendly managers and co-workers

    Cons

You HAVE to get a Macy's card to get the discount, they make you push credit cards and not meeting your quota affects your raise options come review time, the "raise" you get isn't even enough for a cost of living adjustment, it's almost impossible to get full time work unless you stay for a long time.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible if going to school

    Cons

Management has no social skills and no training whatsoever. Just a bunch of butt kissers that made it to that position by mooching up to their superiors. They try to change your scheduled hours to their convenience withought asking but only if you allow it to happen. Screenshot your schedule and work your scheduled hours. Favoritism, a lot of it! Unfit for their roles.

    Advice to Management

Please ask corporate for management training.

    Pros

    Flexible schedule and the discount

    Cons

All the positions are filled very fast and lots of random times to come in. Not good for someone who has small children.
