    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great management at the store I worked at. The store manager was heavily involved in the store and her employees, took the time to know them. Admin team and managers really helped you if you wanted to grow in the company or learn new things. I couldn't say enough how important working here was for my career.

    Cons

Retail is hard anywhere. A great team helps.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work ladies, the work you do does not go unappreciated.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed my co-workers at first. We had a really great team of people in the beginning. Also, they did offer me the flexibility to work around my school schedule at first, but that didn't last long.

    Cons

Not enough hours. They did not promote from within the store. I had over 30 years experience in retail and I was never considered for a management position.
The working conditions in the receiving area were a safety hazard and very dangerous since they were very unorganized. Management always expected you to do 40 hours worth of work in a 20 hour week period. The pay sucked as I was never evaluated and I received only one pay raise in four years.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your employees like human beings and not just like a bunch of programmed robots!

    Pros

flexible schedules, can work in multiple departments, work holidays and weekends

    Cons

the managers did not do very much work at all, and they treated the workers very rude and insulted them alot, which is why i would not work at macys ever again

    Advice to Management

learn how to do some actual work as a manager, do not hide out in the office all day and not work in your departments, learn how to speak properly to your employees, do not insult them or be rude to them, give them total respect, because they do all the work, managers are useless
