    The discount is probably the best benefit. It was a fun enviorment if you got along with coworkers.

    Cons

    During my time with Macy's I had three different managers, and in between those times, there were temporary managers taking shifts.

    Pros

    Flexible schedule, offers competitive pay, room for growth in the company and vendor side, gratis (free product), product training, great discount throughout the whole store

    Cons

    Retail hours, a lot of events on the weekends, not enough employees for coverage, pressure to make credit goals, unnecessary tasks that interrupt business

    Advice to Management

    Understand that there are multiple duties that we have that come from different partners in the business (vendors and retailer). Sometimes it gets hard to balance them simultaneously, along with coaching our associates and meeting our own personal goals too.

    Easy, sometimes fun, different customers everyday different attitudes everyday and that's all I can think right now not fun

    Cons

    Stuck in same position, if your God at what you do expect to be a sales associate for ever with no move up

    Pros

    Great group of girls at the counter. Management was very friendly at the beginning and slowly they brought in new managers who just made it barely tolerable. The salary was pretty decent and choosing your schedule was easy. You could switch with co workers very easily and everyone gets to work the shift they prefer! Sales were easy to make on weekends and holidays!

    Cons

    Retail hours and sales goals. They were sticklers for opening credit cards and it really took a toll on the salespersons performance numbers if they didn't open enough. It was very stressful to have to harass costumers about credit cards when you already know they don't want one. Pre-sales and events were also annoying, they made you call your customers every two weeks or so for some event or other and many felt very bothered.

    Advice to Management

    Find more effective ways to reach out to customers other than cold calling because it is not well received. Also, come up with better incentives for employees to bust their butts opening credit cards.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -the discounts are great. you get 20% off on top of if you have any "macy's money," which employers give you for getting customers to sign up for a credit card, and can give you up to 50% off.
    -they give you half an hour paid lunch if you work 5 to 7 hours. if you work 8 hours, you get an hour unpaid lunch.
    -it's a pretty slow paced environment which is relaxing

    Cons

    -some departments are very competitive. you can pick up shifts in other departments, and some of them are very territorial and do not like you in their space which creates a negative experience.
    -the managers are always on you about getting credit card sign ups and pre-sale if we're in that event. it can get very annoying very fast.
