I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interactions with great customers and co workers.

    Cons

Better needed notifications on sales for the flex. Management needs to learn how to ask for help on a task that doesn't have to do with employee

    Advice to Management

To ask for help with a side assignment you want an employee to do not force on them. Be a leader not a dictator.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My cohort genuinely cares about the success of the store, which is rare among big companies. The hours are flexible, management cares about associates and the people I meet make Macy's a great place for employment.

    Cons

The pay is underwhelming to say the least. The commission that associates make atop of their base salary is difficult to stay atop of. Seeing that it is commission versus draw, when the store is not very busy, associates often suffer from deficit. Also difficult to move up in position at either corporate level or associate level.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing associates to sell as much as they can. Implement a reward system and acknowledge the individuals who go above and beyond. With that, sales and overall team moral will increase and the monthly numbers will reflect that.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

All my coworkers are incredibly nice and easy to work with. The management is very enthusiastic and great at building a solid team. Management genuinely cares about all their employees.
Employee discount is great--20% off, plus you know about upcoming sales in advance.

    Cons

HR/management doesn't do a good job of working around your schedule. Even if you mark a day as unavailable weeks in advance, you will still be scheduled for it. Because I am the only one in my department, I can't swap shifts like most employees can.
For my role, schedules are released on a weekly basis each Friday. This makes it very difficult to schedule around my second job and personal life.

    Advice to Management

Improve on scheduling so that employees with multiple jobs are able to balance both responsibilities.
Invest in updating the equipment employees use on a daily basis, rather than investing the money in visuals that only stay up for a season.
