    I worked at Macy's full-time

    Pros

My manager was very helpful and approachable as well as hard-working. I really liked her. Scheduling was also great; you can pick up shifts in other departments as well very easily.

    Cons

Well..it's retail...so the customers are rude. They paid the bare minimum that they legally could which was discouraging because in a high volume store and the highest volume department, we worked very hard.

    Advice to Management

None. Management at Brea Mall Location was good

    I worked at Macy's full-time

    Pros

Great People, Management that cares (mostly).

    Cons

You have to let the public walk all over you and say whatever they want and you have to sit there and take it.

Saw a lot of associates get carted out on stretchers by paramedics over heart/stress issues. It became a "who is it this time?"

    Advice to Management

Learn how manage a consumer/retail customer who is belligerent without sacrificing the well-being and mental health of your employees.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My best reason to work at Macy's was the ability to set your own hours. I could manage my hours shifts around my class schedule and manage to get enough time for both. There is lots of room to move up in the company if you choose and many areas in work in the retail shops.

    Cons

Since it is such a large enterprise it is difficult to get you're bearings. Product knowledge was also a problem. However once fully trained in an area it is no longer an issue.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had some of the best coworkers who I developed good relationships with. We learned to appreciate each others strengths and communicate well. The managers were some of the kindest people I've ever met. It is a true scratch kitchen- you're not just reheating precooked food.

    Cons

By the time I went there, the business wasn't doing well. This was because of unreliable holiday help in the past and maybe just competition from other restaurants in the Schaumburg area. It ended up closing down permanently while I worked there.

    Advice to Management

If I could say one thing to the managers, it would be thank you for an incredible experience. It was a pleasure working for Macy's for the time that I did. My only advice is to set higher expectations for the shorter term employees.
