I worked at Macy's part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Employee discount, online scheduling, incentive for spotting shoplifters

    Cons

Work can be tedious and extremely dull, customers can be rude and demanding, management does not care about you, have to work in position for a year before you can move up, constantly on your feet.

    Advice to Management

Look at employees like the human beings we are. Macy's is not a sweat shop. Vary the role of fitting room attendant beyond constantly putting away clothing for 8 hrs (This is a department store so you can see how I literally weighed 2-3 pounds less after my shifts)! At the very least offer compensation that is reasonable to the amount of labor ( I was paid 50 cents over minimum wage, with a college degree!) Finally,...

I worked at Macy's part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The women were nice and there were some ok managers.

    Cons

The fitting rooms were always a mess. there was only one person to clean them. ME. I did my best but most of my co-workers didn't do a thing to help me. And I was tasked to do 3 z-racks ALONE in one hr. Again no one even tried to help. The cashiers mostly stayed at their registers doing nothing. I did like the job as it was my first but I believe in teamwork and there was none.

    Advice to Management

Teamwork helps. Instead of just one person doing all the work people could share the workload.

    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

The discount is 30%, which is better than most retail employee discounts.

    Cons

Every other aspect (aside from discount) of being a Macy's employee was pretty awful.

    Advice to Management

Do not treat hourly employees as if they are inferior and stupid.
