    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They'll never force you to do an open-close unless you want more hours so scheduling was decent. Discounts are a plus. It's a lot closer to where i live than my previous job. That's just about it.

    Cons

Finding a manager is always a pain and it drives us (as employees) and customers with time sensitive issues crazy. Because there are so many managers throughout the day, everyday, they're never on the same page about policies so you get in trouble a lot for things that don't make sense or the manager "feels" is inappropriate. It's not all of them, but nothing is ever consistent. Macy's is extremely slow in responding to needs of employees. For example, it took an entire month for Macy's to correct a simple pay issue, which turned into 10 other problems by itself and it only got corrected because the higher ups had to be contacted directly because the manager in charge failed to correct it from the get go and continued to neglect it to tend to other duties. Also, there's always homeless people all over the place and Macy's allows them to stay as long as they're not disrupting the business, making the work environment super uncomfortable because of SUPER FOUL odors (which sometimes linger) and fear of confrontation because half of those people will start cursing and threatening customers and other employees. And the worst thing about this company, the security guards (most, not all) have this issue with hitting on female employees. It's almost like they get hired just so they can stand at their posts and flirt with all the females they can. It's just really not a great place to work at.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Happy employees keep a business alive. And pay attention to the guards. Maybe have anti-sexual harassment trainings.

    I worked at Macy's full-time

    Pros

Great place to work for students. Management matains an organized enviornment although it may feel hectic at times.

    Cons

In order to move up in the ranks you must prove yourself by signing people up for credit cards. Horrible way to measure an employees work ethic and leadership.
