I worked at Macy's full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Smart and talented teams with amazing ideas - in my 10 years I worked alongside some of the best and brightest Close relationship with majority of immediate colleagues - hopefully life long bonds! Work-life balance - in by 9, out before 5 on most days Lots of opportunities to volunteer and give back Some managers very open to feedback and focused on mentoring their team

    Cons

Do not like the direction the company is headed (even before Covid); focused on reducing costs instead of investing in technology and site enhancements (The obvious one here is that they moved the technology teams out of SF bay area - did not agree with this, and not because it affected my employment with them!) Restructured site merchandising into a team of too many cooks in the kitchen Some managers not focused on mentoring, not as open to feedback Senior leaders playing favorites - creating positions and making exceptions specifically for said favorites

I worked at Macy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Pretty chill atmosphere. It's not too demanding. - Great people and talent. I had great managers who always supported me whenever I wanted to explore a new project. - Routine work in a corporation. You have to find pet projects you want to pursue.

    Cons

    - Underpaid compared to other ppl in the same industry in the SF tech scene. - Feels like a cog in a machine. Little room for innovation.
