    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

Picked up a seasonal job here. Quick hire. Very friendly, nice people. Easy to learn on the job, very helpful to do so, and they expect you to make some mistakes while you learn. Management is a gem. These are really nice people to work for.

It's possible to move from department to department easily if another one needs you and you can show your worth. I'm still there and most seasonals are gone.

Managers will work with you to meet your schedule needs, despite what the "official" schedule says.

Really a super friendly place to work.

    Cons

It's a pain to have to clock in and out.

Parking during holiday season and weekends is WAY over on the other side of the mall and, if you close, means you need to walk outside the mall in the dark and rain. A bit silly too when there are 300+ free spaces on the third floor of the parking structure in the post-holiday weekends.

The system won't show you hours in other areas.

    Advice to Management

Warn people if the policy on parking changes... even your seasonal folks. Almost got a ticket because no one told me.

Think about raising pay a bit to be more competitive.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Macy’s treats their employees like garbage. There are no pros. Macy’s is gross and discrimines against LGBTQ. Don’t shop here.

    Cons

Wasn’t called by my preferred name by cosmetic managers. Was treated poorly. I was discriminated against for being Trans and don’t recommend aiding Macy’s.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For as long as I could remember Macy's was a family favorite and the go to store for all our christmas shopping, birthday presents and social events. Synonymous with quality and style, Macy's is an american icon long standing and rich in history with a reputation built on morals and ethics. Unfortunately Macy's at Valley Fair does not share these same values.

    Cons

If you are not related or a family friend to someone in management then you are taken advantage of and treated like an outsider. Many associates have a commission structure so returns are a big deal. Some of the veteran associates make sure they're returns are registered under the newer associates. Management is aware of this and does nothing because is minimizes the commissions paid out and often will target a high selling new agent to ensure. If you complain about anything you're history and the measures they will go to are shocking. The loss prevention department is nothing like one would assume. The employees seem almost sadistic in their demeanor and watch the employees more than the customer's. I have no idea what their back grounds are but I can guess. I was pulled into a meeting where I was accused of something I did not do and mid way through the meeting they apologized saying they had pulled the wrong person, however I think they planned it this way. During the meeting I was told they had the capability to zoom in and could see everything. The way it was said was so creepy I felt violated. The loss prevention department spends more time watching the employees than the shoppers.

    Advice to Management

Shame on you all for ruining a treasure like Macy's.
