    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Can work in the back. Not Sales.

    Cons

No advantage, or advancement. The work is not worth money. Dirty place to work.

    Advice to Management

Treat new hires like quality people and stop turn over rate. Be there to do your job. Both my MIA managers where the worst, The first one quit problems with this store.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people and nice store and good selection of items to purchase appealing to wide variety of people. Fair prices and good sales!

    Cons

Management seemed to be unorganized. They never seemed to talk to each other. Some of the employees that had been there forever were bullies to new people!

    Advice to Management

The management needs to be more cohesive! They need to know what's going on with employees!

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You are encouraged to try and make connections with customers.
Helps you get out of your she'll.
Have very communication with managers as well as other associates.

    Cons

    Too focused on opening credits.
Only have 1 person at register, so most of time, not enough time to recover the floor.

    Advice to Management

You shouldn't put so much pressure on the employees on trying to open credits. The main concern should be the customers, not trying to open credits.

  5. "Seasonal"

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people working there are mostly very nice, cooperative and willing to help you out if you're having trouble. They have some nice employee events like potlucks and catering and try very hard to make their employees happy and motivated.

    Cons

The training felt inadequate. Not sure if it was just because we were seasonal employees and they simply didn't have enough time to properly train us, but we got very little practical training before they sent us off on the sales floor. The employee who I was supposed to shadow on my first day immediately left me at the cash register alone for several hours as well. Management was also sometimes disorganized and seemed to not communicate well with each other.

    Advice to Management

Please make sure first time employees have someone with them as often as possible on the first day, especially if they've never used a pos system before.

    Pros

Hours are very flexible perfect for a 2nd job or while you are in school.

    Cons

Customers are very rude and demanding. Managers expect way to much.

    Advice to Management

Have more coverage on the floor if you want a clean floor and happy customers.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities to try other positions, self service schedules, paid vacations, sick pay, holidays, great benefits, decent pay, great people to work with, there is always someone to talk to if you have issues. The visual department was a tone of fun. Though you fallowed a brand guide most of the time, there are several instances where you can use your creativity.

    Cons

Some managers can be flaky, management can be hard to get into, most associates work a lot of weekends and several nights a week, and the coupons cause most of the customer issues.

    Advice to Management

Make the coupons easier to use, it's ridiculous that the customer get them, but can never use them. It's beyond frustrating for everyone.
