I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a great company and people. Many employees have been would the store a long time and that speaks volume

    Cons

I can't really think of anything.

    Advice to Management

    I worked at Macy's part-time

    Pros

Schedule posted online a decent time in advance, lots of part time associates hired so it's pretty easy to get someone to switch shifts/cover a shift which means a flexible schedule is very achievable. Work is generally straightforward

    Cons

Can get repetitive and boring, not the most exciting job

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

such a great job for a student. I was able to pick up shifts when I wanted to and in whichever departments I wanted to. They understood that I was in school so didn't have high expectations for the # of hours I'd work in a week

    Cons

other people on the fragrance/cosmetics department were severely racist; a couple of them made derogatory comments towards an Indian couple after they had rung them out, unaware that I'm Indian.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Manager was laid back and allowed us to make our schedules as long as we consistent. Being in sales support and doing the 6am shift meant you didn't have to deal with consumers and traffic for the most part.

    Cons

Shift times were awful especially around the holidays. It was always hard to get a hold of a supervisor or manager by phone because the phone systems were automated and routed you to random voicemail box. It always seemed the support staff was there for slave labor than anything. Didn't feel like support staff were treated equally as sales staff.

    Advice to Management

    Care for your employees

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic floor managers who are there for you, and care about you. I was in Men's Shoes, and the pay was fantastic for a entry level job. Very flexible hours.

    Cons

HR is terrible. The HR at my store was unable to help me when I tried to get on medical leave. Their hands were tied, and I had no one to speak to that could help me. I ended up quitting. The company also tried to not pay me my PTO hours that I earned.

    Advice to Management

Work on human resources, and make sure employee concerns are received.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Absolutely no discrimination. I was working with all sort of people, minorities, disables, elder people, college students, non Christian and non English speakers. Flexible schedule. Most people who working there are friendly.

    Cons

Minimum wage. Although the job itself is super easy, by end of the day, I was always exhausted because they were understaffed. Some employees were extremely lazy.

    Advice to Management

Managers should keep their eyes on all employees even they are hired as temporary. Hire more people in advance. Fire people who disappear middle of the shift.
