    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Manager was laid back and allowed us to make our schedules as long as we consistent. Being in sales support and doing the 6am shift meant you didn't have to deal with consumers and traffic for the most part.

    Cons

Shift times were awful especially around the holidays. It was always hard to get a hold of a supervisor or manager by phone because the phone systems were automated and routed you to random voicemail box. It always seemed the support staff was there for slave labor than anything. Didn't feel like support staff were treated equally as sales staff.

    Advice to Management

    Care for your employees

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic floor managers who are there for you, and care about you. I was in Men's Shoes, and the pay was fantastic for a entry level job. Very flexible hours.

    Cons

HR is terrible. The HR at my store was unable to help me when I tried to get on medical leave. Their hands were tied, and I had no one to speak to that could help me. I ended up quitting. The company also tried to not pay me my PTO hours that I earned.

    Advice to Management

Work on human resources, and make sure employee concerns are received.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Absolutely no discrimination. I was working with all sort of people, minorities, disables, elder people, college students, non Christian and non English speakers. Flexible schedule. Most people who working there are friendly.

    Cons

Minimum wage. Although the job itself is super easy, by end of the day, I was always exhausted because they were understaffed. Some employees were extremely lazy.

    Advice to Management

Managers should keep their eyes on all employees even they are hired as temporary. Hire more people in advance. Fire people who disappear middle of the shift.

Current Employee - Cosmetics On Call in Santa Clara, CA

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Super easy, meet a lot of people, a lot of down time, 20% discount on everything including cosmetics and fragrances, can easily get away with hiding out inside the mall.

    Cons

Pay is terrible, managers constantly on your back about Macy's credit quota and adding customers to MyClient, not enough recognition, they will notice every mistake made vs the good deeds

    Advice to Management

Be personable, recognize the good customer service your employees give, stop playing favoritism, appreciate the on-calls for taking shifts no one wants
