I worked at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people to work! Everyone helps if you reach out to them. Understanding the wirk is easier. People around are supporting and helpful.

    Cons

Short span delivery! Technology wise should upgrade to the latest and management wise they are causing little trouble. Not all the teammates are helpful

    Advice to Management

Don’t underestimate someone when they don’t have Domain level experience. Ofcourse no one will. Every other project is unique and different. Instead use people effectively than giving hard time. Also please upgrade your stack trace.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great workplace overall and Good culture.

    Cons

Unfair supervisor .... and the supervisor is able to get by despite unfairness.

    Advice to Management

Please take action against unfair supervisors ..... AS no sufficient action is taken - it is difficult to stick with a nice company like Macys - because of unfair supervisor. Discrimination of some sort continues often in more subtle ways ....

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great life and work balance

    Cons

From a technology point of view or if you're a technologist and you want to do and learn a lot, then this is not the place.

I think they can also do with a new upper management that can deal with the new generation. Times have changed but not at Macys.

Lastly, if you hate politics, then run from here. No career growth whatsoever. Where you come in is probably where you're gonna be for a long time.

    Advice to Management

    Be a little transparent.

  5. "Culture clash was evident during restructuring"

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Prestige and convenience of commute

    Cons

After a restructuring in 2009-2010 there was a distinct culture clash between the Systems group based in GA & any IT folks in NYC. The approach to projects and dealing with business users was different and it didn't seem like GA cared to adapt or adopt any of the methods in place in NYC.

    Pros

Macys.com is a fun place to work. Start-up atmosphere.

    Cons

It's not a technical environment. So most people are not technically-savvy.
