    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay easy work environment for those who can sale and know how to communicate differences with others. If you cant communicate you will get pushed around a bit more.

    Cons

Not getting promoted unless your friends with someone or manage to actually meet sales goals. The mens department is hard to up sell as well so working in the womens apparel or kids/jr's because people buy more there and you can reach sale goals more often but you will work harder to maintain those areas as well.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within and help agents who relocate find work.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The environment at Macy's stores is great for people who like to work with others. If you are relatively solitary, I wouldn't recommend working for this store. The co-workers are great and there seems to be plenty of opportunity for advancement. There are also good benefits for all workers.

    Cons

You are required to learn a lot in a short period of time. My first day on the job (after training) was on the sales floor, by myself. However, I felt that my training was sufficient to be on the sales floor and I was able to learn anything necessary to do my job quickly. There are some problems that come up though. Nevertheless, management is always easy to get a hold of when there's a problem.

    Advice to Management

Try to not staff people alone on their first day.

    Pros

Very flexible schedule system. Very tolerant of all cultures, races, sexes etc. Good employee discount.

    Cons

Very low pay. Company doesn't allow enough authority to employees to satisfy customer needs.

    Advice to Management

Utilize better incentives for motivation of staff.
