Your engagement wouldn't be so low if the overall moral wasn't low... Check the Indian chiefs in the Tee Pee... it all starts with them especially in Tampa

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Discount is good and the executive benefits are the best. Flexibility in schedule for the most part outside of holiday.

    Cons

Lack of communication, unfair pay for associates who grow with the company, added responsibility to Sales Managers with less of a team to accomplish the tasks

    Advice to Management

Recognize those who have been loyal to you and pay them fair. It's frustrating when I'm developing an EDP who doesn't know as much as I do and they are paid a higher rate. That also goes for most who are hired from the outside.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount is not worth the exhaustion, disrespect and bad treatment by managers and some full time employees and you won't be able to get it anyways. I used my Macy's card and it never reflected on the account. In order to get it fixed, you need to call credit line, wait on the line for min 20 minutes and they will probably not solve it anyways like all other credit issues.

    Cons

Managers treated me terrible and not only me but to all seasonal employees. I was told on the phone when I was offered the job that I'd work at jewellery section with base and commission, then it turned out I was hired for all departments and commission plan is made in a way that you can never get it. I was not told that I had a quota to hit to get my commission then after 2 weeks, I learned that I have a quota. Full time employees never give their registers to us and I was kicked out of all registers so they could get all the sales. I couldn't get any commission at all. It was waste of time, energy and full of stress. Full time staff treats all seasonal staff like we're inferior. I kept having arguments with a manager because I clocked in early to work extra hours. She asked me to go home and when I said she was not my manager to send me home, she called security to kick me out of the store.

This work place is full of discrimination and wrongful treatment. Bad management with no empathy and no understanding. They don't ask full time employees to work till mid night but try to use seasonals to clear the floor, do go backs, fix the beds and clothes and do all the dirty work instead of selling. At the end of the week, after being kicked out of all registers, I ended up getting minimum wage for working 52/hr a week, no commission plus the bad treatment by managers and majority of full time employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire better managerswho are leaders and who don't look down on people like they're superior. We're all same, humans, trying to make a living and working hard to be successful. Also, you have to stop allowing employees and managers to adjust the prices because everyone changes and lowers prices just to make a sale and so that customer will like them and come back. It's all about their commission, no one works for the sake of the company. The security tags don't work which I heard from many customers and AP does not do a thing. Most of the prices are tagged wrong.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

    - Pick your own schedule, great for college students wanting to learn extra money on the side.
    - Most of the store employees are nice and friendly.
    - Making customers happy after a successful sales transaction and having conversations with customers in general.

    Cons

    - Rude Managers & Supervisors.
    - Managers are micro taskers, keep pressuring credit cards to employees
    - Pay is really bad, commission only is not going to support anyone.
    - Managers and supervisors enjoy taking advantage of employees.
    - Unhealthy competition with other store employees as they fight for the commission only sales. It is just not right

Do not even bother working here unless it is seasonal or you just really need a job.

    Advice to Management

Stop the credit card pressure of signing to new customers, Better training for employees, have based pay for employees to reduce Turn-Overs.
