I worked at Macy's Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It was a fun environment to work in. A team player company where they give you the freedom to grow in your field or help you move to a different field that better suits you. They had the work and life balance whiched I loved.

    Cons

The commute was very long. I don't really have any cons about working at macys,

I have been working at Macy's Technology (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good training program (at least they used to) and some structure to work with.. if you like that.

    Cons

Very corporate. Huge company with outdated systems, makes it hard to get things done or make changes.

    Advice to Management

Notice when change is needed, then do it right. Don't wait until it's way past due, still rush the transition process, and make a mess of things. Empower your employees to be resources, taking risks and engaging in their business (and thus their jobs), rather than cogs in a badly broken 'wheel of influence' that has yet to be fixed...even after 18 months of sitting unused alongside the LRL Spring '06 Collection samples, just one of the 40+ overflowing racks in a single 15th floor sample closet.
