I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

Positive management, inspiring training, great flexibility, great merchandise are definitely pros of working at Macy's. Macy's definitely instilled great salesmanship into me.

    Cons

Not great pay for those graduated in from seasonal labor. Many people that work there aren't very positive but that can't be blamed on the company itself but just the people working there.

    Advice to Management

Continue looking for ways to encourage positive attitude in sales associates. When associates move graduate from season labor, graduate their pay as well.

    Pros

Fun environment, learn a lot about fashion and selling, get to help people save money

    Cons

Forced to make "sales goals" and if you don't you get a bad review. If you make a sale and someone returns the item you start with a negative sales goal the next day. Also people that have worked there for longer will try to steal your "sales" and ring them up as their own.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you're on the flex team, you get to set your own schedule which is great if you're a high school or college student
-the management is EXTREMELY friendly! i was welcomed with the utmost gratitude when i was hired.
    - training was pretty thorough; going from absolutely no retail experience, i knew how to do basic transactions on the register on my first day

    Cons

-being on the flex team and setting your own schedule, the downside is that you recieve last pick on shifts which makes it extremely hard to find alot of hours. I have been averaging about 11-13 hours a week which barely pays for my gas at minimum wage (which is another con, but not to be unexpected with a retail job)
-in training, you are not taught about the departments or brands that are sold at macy's. you have to just sort of pull information out of thin air or ask another associate if asked a question about a product you don't know. this can make things frustrating for the customer and associate as it can be quite an embarrassing experience
