    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

decent, friendly associates, easy to find

    Cons

disorganized, horribly scattered management, absolutely horrible communication from management, boring work environment, no events or efforts to create and retain the high energy of associates(i.e. rallies, contests, holiday events etc), overworked underpaid employees, unacceptably low salary, no ability for raises regardless of how you work, no room for advancement, understaffed badly handled company, it seems they have lost sight of how to handle their business' projected goals and are not following a succint and efficient business model.

    Advice to Management

It takes money to make money; there is a reason Macy's is going out of business. Stop being cheap hire the staff you need to get everything done and don't give job duties that are under other positions to people that applied for different unrelated positions, undertaking 5 separate job activities at once making every employee in the building do everyone's job. Especially when you're not paying for the work you ask. That is not economical and thats the reason for your high turnover, subsequently why you don't have people staffed to work and bring in the revenue you need. Treat workers better with work that matches their area, and pay them what you *should be paying, a rate that matches the amount of work you ask of them.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible but I recommend for college student. It was a temporary job for me. Benefits are okay but nothing super special.

    Cons

You have to meet sales goals individually and if you don't meat your goals; it can cost you your job later depending how your sales is. You have to be agressive also because they want you make people apply for Credit apps.

    Advice to Management

Encourage team work so everyone can make their goals individually.

I have been working at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Had all day and still didn't finish. Have to come another day. Lot's of policies and what you have to know about Macy's before you even practice cash registar

    Cons

Basically you do everything yourself on computer, following each step. And if you don't have previous experience with retail you would probably have few questions

    Advice to Management

Have someone actually there to help an lead new employees in the process, so they can answer small questions you might have but they keep you stuck to one step, the whole process would be much faster

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In my opinion there aren't any pros unless you like rarely working.

    Cons

Wells at Macy's you schedule your own hours if you are part time. if you are full time they automatically get 40 hours. if you are part time it is so hard to get hours since you have to get them yourself on the my schedule plus site. you'll be lucky if you 12 hours a week ! They pressure you to be aggressive to the customers which can run the customers off. They also give you super high sales goal and blame you if you don't reach it as if you can force customers to spend money on things they don't want. It's too competitive. Its also very hard to get a raise of get moved to a higher position. They usually just hire a new person if a higher position opens instead of just moving a employee they already have up.
