    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Loved that each day was different, I would work in delivery and then I'd be up front loading and unloading trailers. But it was actually pretty cool working with my mom.

    Cons

The only challenge I had working here was getting to work on time.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of good discount on clothing.

    Cons

When I was working, there were many times where people didn't show up to work and I had to do their part also.

    Advice to Management

Had a pretty nice manager. However, he left 2 months after I started and everything started to fall apart.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love that the schedule was flexible, made lots of friends and got a paycheck every week😊

    Cons

Work holidays and extended hours but the pay makes up for it.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I don't have anything good to say.

    Cons

-management yells at you for every little thing
-low pay, some commission but with constant sales it's not enough to be worth it
-1 year return policy means people use and return cosmetics and the commission is taken out of paycheck

    Advice to Management

Treat you employees like people. If you want them to do well, make them WANT to come to work. An abusive environment doesn't make people want to work harder, everyone just starts to hate themselves.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Union environment sets standards for the associates. Performance standards allow you to focus on success. The full time staff drives the heart of productivity.

    Cons

The successes that you accomplish are never enough. Management micro manages and puppet- ize their reporting managers. If your a good employee, they continue to load on the work.

    Advice to Management

Embrace your long time associates and thank them for the work ethic that they contribute to your operation. You won't have them for much longer.

    Pros

If you are in a union store you can make a lot of money, if not you're out of luck. If you're in the right store or department you can do whatever you want.

    Cons

They treat you like a number, you do not matter to them. The point system for attendance is awful. If you're in the wrong department you will get write ups for taking 17 minute 15-minute breaks!

    Advice to Management

Change your ways! Stop treating employees so awfully and then being upset when we don't want to actually do our job!

    Pros

Good work environment, Morning rallys are fun and make you enjoy meeting sales goals.

    Cons

They don't like to offer benefits, or let you actually work 40 hours as a full time employee. Not great pay, but to be expected for just being a sales associate. Always a mess in clothing, due to lack of go back associates. They ask you to work nearly every weekend for "big sales events"

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I applied online the next day I received an email to schedule and interview. I went in for an interview two days later. The manager that interviewed me was super nice. She asked me a series of questions about my experience and situational experiences in retail. It was a fairly easy interview. After about 20 minutes the Manager offered me the job.

Training was two days and all computer based. They kind of just throw you in a room and give you a checklist of modules to complete. It was easy for me so I didn't have any problem but the HR folks were very helpful.

Scheduling is ok you have to go online and kind of pick up your own shifts as long as there are open lines available. I have a second job so I'm ok with not working a lot of hours. After two days of computer training you get to do OJT for a day with a "buddy" = "experienced associate." After that you are good to go on your own!

    20% discount as employee.

    Cons

For all the things a sales associate does and you have to look business professional the pay really sucks. Minimum wage is not enough for all the things a sales associate does. People at McDonald's get paid more but if you love retail and you love Macy's then this job will be good for you.

    Cons
