    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Loved helping customers. Had a blast with them

    Cons

Many days you come in to find a decision has been made by corporate that makes work harder for us but also negatively effects customers. Often these changes make no sense because they don't improve sales and either add to costs or can't save very much money

    Advice to Management

Think about the effects of your decisions on staff and customers. It is not all bottom line. There are intangibles you are missing that actually add to your profits.
Provide training for staff on the products they are selling.
Help your people improve. Use mentorship.
So many things you could do but no one is willing. It's a shame

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Paid every week. Flexible scheduling.

    Cons

Macy's no longer has an HR Rep, they eliminated the postion. Everything is submitted online and through email. Any problem you may have doesn't get handled.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Extremely fun fast pace, physical work, very supportive MTM's, the HR people are amazing, plus great downtown location.

    Cons

As a seasonal merchandiser, you will be shunned by the long-time Union employees. Minimum wage and they require you to open a Macy's credit card account if you want to use the employee discount.

I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun and good team work environment

    Cons

There were not enough staffs working on the floor to help customers. You need to handle a lot of things at the same time which was very stressful

    Advice to Management

Manger should have more meetings with employees to listen to their opinions and improve management methods

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

20% employee discount, opportunity to earn additional discounts, great system for self managing your schedule, friendly managers and co-workers

    Cons

You HAVE to get a Macy's card to get the discount, they make you push credit cards and not meeting your quota affects your raise options come review time, the "raise" you get isn't even enough for a cost of living adjustment, it's almost impossible to get full time work unless you stay for a long time.
