    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Extremely fun fast pace, physical work, very supportive MTM's, the HR people are amazing, plus great downtown location.

    Cons

As a seasonal merchandiser, you will be shunned by the long-time Union employees. Minimum wage and they require you to open a Macy's credit card account if you want to use the employee discount.

I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun and good team work environment

    Cons

There were not enough staffs working on the floor to help customers. You need to handle a lot of things at the same time which was very stressful

    Advice to Management

Manger should have more meetings with employees to listen to their opinions and improve management methods

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

20% employee discount, opportunity to earn additional discounts, great system for self managing your schedule, friendly managers and co-workers

    Cons

You HAVE to get a Macy's card to get the discount, they make you push credit cards and not meeting your quota affects your raise options come review time, the "raise" you get isn't even enough for a cost of living adjustment, it's almost impossible to get full time work unless you stay for a long time.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Love helping my customers

    Cons

They are constantly trying to make work life more difficult with little to no support. In WA they have taken our earned vacation and converted it to sick leave. All but 1 hour was converted for me. And I cannot schedule 1 hr of vacation!

    Advice to Management

Treat your people better. They make or break your store and therefore your job! Fix the scheduling glitches. They happen too often and cause unnecessary stress and work to fix.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of good discount on clothing.

    Cons

When I was working, there were many times where people didn't show up to work and I had to do their part also.

    Advice to Management

Had a pretty nice manager. However, he left 2 months after I started and everything started to fall apart.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule and the discount

    Cons

All the positions are filled very fast and lots of random times to come in. Not good for someone who has small children.

    Advice to Management

    More regulated

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The physical store was a great environment with easy navigation and entry. The merchandise is higher end and easy to sell. Everyone knew what there job was and the what the rules were.

    Cons

The staff are very competitive and could be extremely inappropriate, including some management and HR. Bullying did happen there on more than one occasion in more than one department.

    Advice to Management

Maybe hire some people to be like security but for the personnel working there to see the interpersonal relationships people have with each other there and make some serious culture changes. Maybe even clean house with people and start over because the seniority rules there seemed to give people a sense of power over others that was GREATLY utilized and people were taken advantage of and even bullied. I would also recommend interviewing people on a quarterly basis to make sure nothing like that is happening anymore.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Few consequences for not showing up to work.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive, even with commission; stores so short staffed that customers are frequently upset upon finally finding someone to help them; unable to spend necessary time with any one customer, resulting in high cancellation and return rates.

    Advice to Management

Furniture and mattress customers expect a much higher quality of service than they would get looking for shirts at Ross.
