    Pros

    Discount is okay, a lot of incentives such as "macy money" to open credit cards

    Cons

    Had to learn how to be deceptive in having someone open more cards, punished for not opening enough cards for the day, managers were condescending and bad, customers were even worse, throwing clothes in the dressing room. Managers openly allowed stealing, and there is little to no security. Any report to missing clothes would go ignored. Scheduled you even when you requested days off, and team members were often untrained...

    Advice to Management

    Flush all managers and replace them, stop getting employees to deceive customers and convincing them to open a second card when they are already in debt, step up security because we had thousands of dollars worth of clothes go missing everyday.

    I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Very cooperative and friendly management at the store for which I worked. It was nice to have the extra percentages off on items, as an employee, as well.

    Cons

    As with all retail, low pay. Far below a real living wage these days. Also, hours were inconsistent, so it made it hard to plan ahead for personal events.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your workers better.

    I worked at Macy's full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

    Coworkers, good team work lots of overtime in the holiday season. Never worked with their management style in a retail setting before.

    Cons

    Store manager disagree with everything you say and still take your idea as hers. Pay is less then what a manager would make at a lower end store like Khols or JCPenney Sales goals have no reflection to what the store is doing that year month or day. department goals are taken on of thin air.

    Advice to Management

    Think of the people that work for you as people not employee numbers for scorecards.

    I worked at Macy's for more than a year

    Pros

    All of the employees are very supportive and understanding of your role. The training for this position is very helpful and makes it easy for you to be successful.

    Cons

    Because of the culture, there will always be gossip. Be sure to not add to it and do not entertain it. The benefits are not great either and for the last two years they have had lay offs in January so hit your goals or you could be next.

    Advice to Management

    Managers have their own clicks and most of them have been there for over 5 and even 10 years. Do not expect them to accept you if you are new. They have seen a lot of people come and go. The employees who work for you are very supportive and accepting so that helps.

      communication and scheduling at times doesn,t make sense for EX. too many scheduled at slow times of day, and not enough scheduled at busy parts of day when help is needed the most

      I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

      Pros

      Full time hours were available for most of the season.

      Cons

      For a minimum wage job, too much stress. Poor communication between all managers for support staff. Poor treatment, little respect. We didn't receive our schedule until 12-24 hours before the week started.

      Advice to Management

      Increase the pay, minimum wage is not liveable.
