Pros
The only thing was the weekly paychecks
Cons
Mostly horrible management. Credit Cards are terrible and the pressure put on employees to solicit them was worse.

Pros
Fairly flexible. It was easy to get someone to cover your shift if you needed. If you have good coworkers, it can actually be kind of fun. The pay is not too bad.
Cons
Management was not very understanding and kind of pushy when it came to credit cards. Sometimes it is not possible to meet your sales and credit card goals, no matter how hard you try. Yet, all they see are your numbers. They don't see how good of any employee that you are. Although I said the pay was not bad, considering what one has to deal with sometimes, it felt like I should have been paid more.

Decent job for a daylight full-time bored doctor's wife who loves the discount on their overpriced merchandise.

Flexible hours and decent discount. I worked there part-time while attending college and the ability to schedule hours around my college schedule was beneficial.
Cons
Disrespectful management, relatively low morale, and the difficulty in breaking out of the 'floater ' status as they call it. If you get a part-time job there, you're constantly (for several months at least) just shifted around from department to department. The downside to this is that besides knowing how to work the register (which is really the only thing you learn there), you feel like it's your first day everyday there because you're always in a new dept. with new employees and customers and merchandise. The pay is also low and they expect you to sell so many credit cards per month.

Pros
-Flex Schedule (includes the options to swap shifts, pick up, advertise) -great for part time work (full time is just not worth it)
Cons
-Poor Management: always making you feel ur going to be fired every shift -credit cards/promo pushing is out of control -u can clean your area, make everything orderly, go the full 9 yards above and beyond ur daily sales goal, be sweating, almost in tears, and constantly fighting with your co-workers to get to the register first ... And all management ever cares about is if u sold your minimum 3 credit cards (full time) 2 (part) -can never count on coming into work the next day to that clean area you worked so hard on, because the closing employee was to lazy to do any work. -if your slam packed busy and you call for managements help, they never come, never send anyone over to help and turn the other way (this is ridiculous over the holiday season) -bathrooms were disgusting! Smelled horrible and we're always low on supplies (tp, paper towels, soap) Unless you want to be a slave, stay away from Macy's. Need one more con? U'd be surprised how many people try to sleep with each other, just to get promoted.

The upper management makes an effort to know every one Most of the people I work with are great individuals and experienced and knowledgable Reaching high sales and credit goals gets recognized
Cons
The full-time position is not actually full-time hours (32 hours per week counts as full time) making it hard to live easily with out having to get a second part-time job. Low pay and low raises and it takes a long time until you are able to apply for higher up positions (you have to work there for at least a year before you can apply to other positions- even if your current position is below your qualification and experience level) Union Square is a Union Store so you have to pay the monthly Union fee in order to there Attendance system makes you feel like a child in school, not a working professional Credit card goals are very high and there is lot of pressure for you to open new cards daily

Macys is flexible and allows you to adjust your schedule easily. There are also a lot of opportunities to pick up shifts all over the store
Cons
The managers are pushy and you are required to offer credit cards to all customers.

So Do I Work Here or Not?
Dec 27, 2011 - Seasonal Sales AssociateRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Amazing flexibility with insite, especially being a college student whose schedule can sometimes change and be unpredictable. -Never have had to stay longer than I should have, and I take my lunches when I should. Plus they follow California law so its great. -Get paid weekly. Who doesn't like that?
Cons
Been working here since the middle of November so I think my time is coming to an end so saying cons isn't that hard: -Supervisors were really nice but really pushed the idea of selling the credit cards to customers. I've only had two customers open one since I've started, and I don't think that looks to good to them. -Most coworkers are really nice and helpful, especially since I'm a seasonal who has been floating everywhere. But there was one woman who I worked with in a department for a week who gave me a lot of crap in particular because I never had a chance to put clothes away that piled up during the one day sales. Maybe its because she is much older than me (I'm 22), but she felt the need to boss me around, despite only being a sales associate and not my boss. There was another person older than her who was in the same boat (much nicer to me) and she didn't get the same treatment. -While I love the use of insite, I signed up for part time. Part time I don't think involves not working. I've gone a week and a half with no work and finding shifts to pick up can sometimes be downright difficult. -Sales goals are incredibly high sometimes and can only be achieved by staying at the register all day sometimes. Which is hard to do when you are not allowed to stay at th register all the time. -Never met the store manager. Is that odd?

Pros
Discount on clothes which you can add up. 20% coupon or discount using your Macy's card, and then another 20% for employee discount. A good job for first time workers as the hours aren't long if you work part time, or if you just want some pocket change.
Cons
Management was too aggressive when it comes to making your sales goal and opening up new Macy's credit cards. And you will hate everything and everyone during the holiday seasons.
