I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

People are fantastic. Routine feedback allows for one to stay engaged. Rewards the team for results. Flexible schedule. Lots to love

    Cons

Annual decrease in sales leads to loss of relevance. Business model is completely broken and there doesn't seem to be a plan to turn this around.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Macy's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people, very friendly and easy to work with at all levels. 20% discount is okay.

    Cons

Sr. Management doesn't know what they're doing, and priorities come and go like the wind. Years of layoffs and frozen increases has left most people frustrated and wanting to leave.

    Advice to Management

Retail and merchandising are NEVER going to be the same. Come up with a vision for the company and stick to it. Reprioritize rolls away from merchants at HQ towards Store Ops and Store Visual; make visiting the store fun.

I worked at Macy's full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Depending on your manager, there is work-life balance. There is freedom to creat and implement programs if you can find the funding.

    Cons

Tries to do too much. And so is stretched too thin financially and people-wise. Is old fashioned in management style. Too many senior leaders I. Their roles for too long. Needs fresher, newer thinking

    Advice to Management

Be more competitive with salary, work from home. Be innovative and stop copying ideas from other retailers
