I have been working at Macy's for more than 5 years

    Pros

The company has wide variety of options if you choose to move around. It also has a great give back program to the community.

    Cons

The culture of Macy's can be toxic. It has a legacy approach to promoting people based off length of time at the company versus skillset. It does not hold is technology group accountable for the old way of thinking, slow pace at which they get projects done nor fiscal responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Work on the culture or you will continue to lose good talent.

    Pros

    Big company with great benefits.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Not much to look forward to

    Cons

Horrible benefits and culture at MST. Exec management is stuck in the stone age and has no desire to change. They bring in new talent and refuse any advise from these new hires. Most employees and mgmt have been with the company for 30+ years and havent worked anywhere else. Comical bench process for promotion, no work from home and horrible work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Listen to new hires and effect change - and begin treating MST as an IT shop instead of a retail employer

I worked at Macy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Competitive salary, competitive benefits, 401K

    Cons

Career suicide, corporate brands and companies that sell to Macys will not interview candidates employed by Macys as an unspoken non- compete rule, making leaving the company once you are hired at Macys extremely difficult. In the New York home office, there is an internal discrimination against employees with families as well as employees who hold creative roles. Management in all divisions are grossly incompetent... and are rewarded and encouraged for fear mongering and creating an extremely negative and hostile environment. There is no comparison for worst place to work in NY corporate retail.
