Pros
It's a pretty good company to work for with great people as coworkers and a nice employee discount. It is a good job for beginners or retirees.
Cons
There is not alot of room for growth after initial promotion.

Pros
Empoylee discount all the time, nice co-worker
Cons
low pay`````sigh````the employee discount only when you have a macy's card

Pros
i would say the only pro is the 30% off employee discount other than that the hours and managers are utter garbage
Cons
Macy's is the definition of a failing company. The work zone is chaotic at best. Coworkers seek to compete because the job is very boring.

Pros
Good job for the most part. Employees received discounts on merchandise and they were good about offering extra hours during the holiday season.
Cons
Not many opportunities for growth at Macys. They keep most of their seasonal employees part time if you do a good job.

Overall, it was alright but there was little opportunity for growth in my position.

The employee discount and macy's money is great if you like to shop especially around christmas time. Management does a nice job of praising employees for a job well done, and actively try to stir up enthusiasm.
Cons
The compensation, though low, is standard for hourly retail positions, however the amount of work that is prescribed to each employee based on that compensation is more than that of other positions. The "magic" training that sales associates are mandated to attend, is at times difficult to take seriously because, employees are occasionally gifted with plastic wands at the end of training. Training teaches employees how to sell but glosses over other important techniques like resolving customer and credit issues.

Pros
I have worked there from the age of 18 to 22 and enjoyed the employee discount on clothing. That said, no young person should stay here for that long as I found my temporary position was slowly taking a permanent form. Don't make the same mistake I did by staying there long and go back to college and get a degree! Before the recession, the location was bustling and there were tons of customers, if you tend to fear crowds, you'd be better off choosing a more remote/not as popular location.
Cons
I started in 2005 with a pay of $8 and, later, I was receiving $12.50. I was not on commission. Managers changed about 5 times and each had their own idea of how to meet the department goals which were opening customer credit cards, meeting sales goals etc. My least favorite part was pushing people to get a store credit card ("The Loyalty Program"). Another con would be the number of rude customers, there was always at least one a day who would want to return a stinky, dirty worn piece of clothing. Some were very condescending- I have to say, if you don't have a thick skin/maturity yet, be extremely polite and refer clients like that to the manager.

The employee benefits of getting discounts on items was nice and it was easy to pick up hours.

Good people not too stressful of a job 20% employee discount sometimes more.. Nice clothing too look at/buy.. Generous with breaks..
Cons
None, its a common sense job.. Some people don't like it.. Thats why i would recommend being a sales associate to a lot of people because they might hate picking things up all day.. I cant stand still in one place so thats why its good for me.
