I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people and community are great, and lots of opportunities to meet new people and experience different technologies and such. Although initially considered a retail company, it goes way more beyond that in learning almost every aspect of the business.

    Cons

None that I can think of generally.

I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Excellent work/life balance. There's a mad rush for the elevators at 4:00 PM, and the company has summer Fridays

    Cons

    - Senior leadership has no idea how to inspire employees - Layoffs at Macy's Tech are affecting morale - So many projects are on a path to nowhere - The corporate culture is so bizarre. Managers skip one-on-one meetings for months at a time - The benefits SUCK and are getting worse. Health insurance is far too expensive, and the company does not contribute very much - No stock options, but this might be a plus since the stock is tanking at the moment - Typical clueless HR - Management is pitting San Francisco against Johns Creek

I have been working at Macy's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good work-life balance. Made some good colleagues in the work place.

    Cons

Not doing much projects. Company keep restructuring, they underpay their software engineer. It is still a retail company that focuses on retail. Technology is just a way to complement and not to go behind other retail store. Too many higher up management title, and too little junior position engineer that can help make the technology grow.

I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice location in San Francisco. Summer Fridays.

    Cons

The company is legally obligated to pay overtime and they don't. Many people have to go beyond the call of duty and put in extra hours to get the work done. Employees need to be payed over time!
