I worked at Madison Marquette full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent portfolio of assets with a national presence in the market.

    Cons

Lots of managers with complete lack of leadership ability. Decisions made by few senior execs who are disconnected from the assets they attempt to manage. Sucking revenue out of an asset seems more important than the sustainability and success of the property.

    Advice to Management

Maintain an active collaboration with property management professionals at the property level to better understand the asset and ramifications that can occur locally as a result of directives made from afar. Eliminate layers of middle management who provide very little to the bottom line.

    Pros

The work, I enjoy the real estate industry and though there's a lot of volume the work really isn't hard

    Cons

Senior leadership is very hands off and leaves the property mgmt business to in experiences and poor managers who don't respect their people. Very petty environment that fosters a ton of resentment.

I worked at Madison Marquette full-time

    Pros

There are a number of nice people throughout the organization and being decentralized, you and insulate yourself from the executive dysfunction.

    Cons

The dysfunction within the executive ranks affects all areas of the company. If it doesn't reach you, you can have a good job at the company. If it does, than your job is very difficult. The dysfunction includes the inability to make decisions, when they do make a decision, it needs to be done immediately, the inability to prioritize programs, and each executive operates in a silo.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together for the good of the company, the employees, and most importantly the good of the middle managers who are between the dysfunction and their employees they are trying to keep happy!
