    Pros

The M-O BOCES is serious about hiring qualified staff but tight budgets can make it difficult to attract and keep the very best. The work environment is friendly and supportive.

    Cons

Many new faces in senior management mean change ahead but too early to tell how the organization will weather tough economic times. Work can be hectic as everyone is asked to do more with less but that seems to be true everywhere.

    Advice to Management

Management is stretched hard to keep up with everything going on and loses touch with people that could help communicate what is really going on.

    Pros

You have a positive impact on the lives of individuals that truly need help. At times, you feel a great sense of achievement when a students succeed at whatever goal they may have set.

    Cons

Supervising staff seem aloof until you know what hits the fan then they can become overbearing. Lack of professional development opportunities. Not much room to advance. Lack of organization across the board.

    Advice to Management

Managers need annual training to keep up with the changes that occur often regarding funding sources. Classrooms need more resources for the student population. Need to provide more genuine work experience for those in adult education classes.
