    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Madison Square Garden as an intern

    Pros

Plenty of hours, exposure to so many departments and opportunities, fast paced and rewarding.

    Cons

Virtually no opportunities for full-time work.

    Advice to Management

Consolidating multiple roles into one overworks the individual, and takes away an opportunity for someone else.

I worked at Madison Square Garden full-time

    Pros

-location and access to incredible events in NYC
    -recently improved company culture
    -passionate peers
    -awesome resources for growth
-employees are very willing to help you grow your career if you are proactive and take advantage of opportunities

    Cons

-communication (I was an intern there and applied for a full time job, they communicated great while I was employed there but as soon as my internship ended they went black. I found out I did not get the position through a friend at the company. I thought after interning there full time I at least deserved the respect of a phone call or email)

I have been working at Madison Square Garden part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great working with current and former players on the NYR, working with kids and the community. Get to be on the ice and coach kids.

    Cons

Doesn't pay enough given that you only work a few hours here and there each week. Not enough responsibility given, almost too easy.

    Advice to Management

Give staff more responsibility, better pay.

I have been working at Madison Square Garden full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A recent over haul of the benefit package has improved the offering.
This in conjunction with a new HR portal has made it a lot easier to get information on available services.
New training materials are practically gushing into the system.
The arena is in a great location.
New shared space has been provided including a cafeteria called the hub and a lounge type room with lots of windows and natural light.
They are really pushing the opportunity to engage with senior management making it easier to see whats expected if you want to move up.
A new ticket request system has been implemented.

    Cons

It can be a little intense at times. Not for the fainthearted.

    Advice to Management

Different people are motivated by different rewards for high performance. Find out what individuals are willing to trade to perform consistently above expectation instead of reviewing whether people have exceeded expectation.

I worked at Madison Square Garden as a contractor

    Pros

Great facility at MSG, NY. Looks after its employees day to day welfare. As long as needs are justified the resources on hand are virtually limitless. Fast paced.

    Cons

Disconnect between management and its employees. Contract renewals are not discussed until last minute where it places pressure on the employees.

    Advice to Management

Have more open door policy to employees. Have conversations regarding contract renewals more ahead of time so both parties will be better informed of next steps.

    Cons

Not the best hours if this is your primary job, on your feet entire shift so wear insoles, hockey games are cold
