    Positive Outlook

I worked at Madrona Foods (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people and upper management, decent benefits, beautiful office building.

    Cons

The company is small so there isn't much room for advancement, the benefits package could use improvement.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Small company. Ok benefit package (health insurance, 401 K (company contributes very little)

    Cons

No room for advancement. Company does not promote from within. Benefits, other than health insurance, are sub-par. Upper management micromanages all managers so managers are unable to set their own agendas. Hostile work environment created by HR department. Company does not perform adequate back ground checks so there are a lot of unqualified employees working in supervisory and managerial positions that do not know how to do their jobs and/or have criminal backgrounds. Company is very small so employees often function way outside of what they were originally hired to do for the company and they are not compensated for all of the extra work. Plant is not safe. Accidents happen all the time and are swept under the rug and people are paid to stay quiet about them. I worked with this company for almost four years and have watched it go from being a great company to work for to a company that people are miserable working for because of poor upper management. My advice, do not work here unless you want to come home stressed out everyday and want to feel underappreciated and undervalued.

    Advice to Management

Fire everyone in upper management, especially HR, and start over again before they all run the company in the ground.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Madrona Foods full-time

    Pros

    - Small company
    - Able to wear many hats and get a global understanding of the company and production process.

    Cons

    - Organizationally disfunctional
    - Poor interdepartmental communication
    - Lack of direction from top leadership

    Advice to Management

Hire quality employees across all departments and ensure that the leadership in each department is open and transparent with regard to the direction given to their employees. Create a clear focus and mission for the company. Maintain integrity - especially amongst leadership. Be honest with employees.
