I worked at Maersk Tankers full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

    1) Nice name to put on your resume 2) Christianshavn office :) 3) Some nice and professional colleagues can be spotted

    Cons

    1) No talent management whatsoever 2) BTW, this could explain the lack of talented manager 3)This is not an international company. You either have to be danish or Indian, and preferably male to make your way up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Make talent management one of your top priority. Top performers need to be groomed, put in stretched assignments while properly mentored, and be rewarded for achievements.

I worked at Maersk Tankers full-time for more than 19 years

      Pros

Good brand recognition that is globally recognised. Fantastic prospects if you are a white Danish man, you don’t even have to be good at what you do.

      Cons

Forget about rising to the top unless you are a white Danish man. You can be a top performer for over 20 years and passed over for managerial positions because the Manaegment prefers a Dane to be reporting to him. The leadership team is nothing but a Danish boys club. If you don’t have the right skin color, just be prepared to be lorded over and passed over for any good opportunities.

      Advice to Management

Should address the issue of inequality instead of paying lip service. You cannot expect to win if you are only using 20% of the talent pool.

I have been working at Maersk Tankers full-time (Less than a year)

      Pros

Ability to easily switch between departments (that's what I did) In-house cafeteria serving delicious breakfasts and lunches A fairly stable and secure employment prospects Good pension scheme

      Cons

Extremely inflexible management. Managers do not manage men but distribute tasks. Zero coaching or mentoring. 60% of the team left department within last 2 years with no action or interest from management. No training. You must pay for your own courses and dedicate your vacations for it. Fleet Safety Superintendents must pay for their own NEBOSH course. Very little office presence. Seriously short-staffed.
