    Cons

Management not friendly to staff on;y to certain people, no room for advancement

I have been working at Magellan Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible, work from home available for some positions, little
    to no micro management.

    Cons

I don't believe they are competetitve in their wages, cost of living is definitely not appropriate. They lack training and communication is terrible. It's difficult to get anyone to "own" their work. Trying to get help from other teams seems so challenging. It's frustrating to say the least.

    Advice to Management

Provide better guidelines to staff. Interdepartment communication is a must and if your staff doesn't have a name or number to reach out to, it creates bad customer service.

    Pros

Pay is good for external employees if you leave and come back. Work from home opportunities are great. Time off policy is wonderful. Management is supportive when they need something done and you aren't getting movement on projects. Generous merit increase and bonus programs.

    Cons

Pay is not good if you're transferring internally. Went up 3 pay grades and they will literally only offer you 10%. If you went up one pay grade at a time, you may be ok. But if you move up, you still end up dealing w things from your previous position. They do not try to retain their great employees. They are very top heavy. Lots of chiefs not enough Indians. Every time you turn around you're getting a re-org email and they have pulled on another senior vp or CIO. Benefits stink. They only offer CDHPs. All high deductible. You are like a dime a dozen to these ppl. Whatever you do, don't ask for a raise. You won't get it.

    Advice to Management

Pay your good people if you want them to stay.

Supervisor let some employees get by with hanging up on customers

    Pros

    Great benefits package. Great coworkers.

    Cons

Push back for change from team managers. Too much automatic blame between departments.

I worked at Magellan Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work at home 1 day a week was a positive opportunity and saved gas money and saved time being in traffic.

    Cons

Company went through 9 supervisors within 3 years. A couple supervisors were very supportive of the team, the other 7 used the position to launch higher in the company leaving our team hanging and not seeing goals being met due to too many changes.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone that plans to stay in the supervisor position for 3 or more years for continuity of care.

I worked at Magellan Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Military men and women are wonderful to work with. MFLC program is a valued program amongst the service members and their families. Command understands the limits of the MFLC's scope of practice.

    Cons

PTO days are 6 to 10 days max which holidays are not paid. Raises would be nice. Competitive salaries for the field of psychotherapy regardless if MFLC allegedly does psychotherapy or not. The OSD requires a Masters level therapist to fulfill the position so thus the compensation should be with industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the needs of your employees.

    Cons

Constant computer and network issues, physical aspects of workplace environment are poor. Working elevators are constantly under repair. Major heating and cooling issues year round.
