    Pros

They offer great vacation time and are flexible with work schedule. Variety of positions within the company as well as numerous work-at-home positions.

    Cons

Makes exceptions to policies as they see fit. Most management plays favorites and those are the people that move up in the company regardless of qualifications or job performance. Rewards employees who are unethical. ie. employees that steal office supplies

    Advice to Management

Management needs to take a look at the employees they have with good ethics and morals and reward them for going above and beyond their job duties.

    Pros

you get all your PTO at the beginning of the year, flexible start time is great also. great team members.

    Cons

you may not get to use all PTO and it doesn't roll over. No respect for employees. no salary increases.

    Advice to Management

promote the work/life balance you guys push during the interview process. give raises to employees. dont only point out the wrong.

I have been working at Magellan Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people you work with are great! That is the only positive thing I have to say about this company. Everything else sucks!!

    Cons

They monitor every single second of the day you are at the company. You can't go to the bathroom without someone saying something to you. They want you on the phones at all times.

    Advice to Management

Relax and pay more money to the people you have working here. Working people like dogs is not going to make them more productive. You will find yourself looking to hire more people in a short amount of time because of the turnover rate.

I have been working at Magellan Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pros are that most of the people are nice, and the PTO is good.

    Cons

The cons include micromanagement, a pretentious manager, and an unsupportive and untrustworthy manager.

    Advice to Management

Hire the department heads who support their employees instead of throwing them under the bus, who think before speaking or acting, who comprehend basic concepts and who do not micromanage. Having previous management experience does not mean one is a good manager.

I have been working at Magellan Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No pros with Magellan Military Life Counselor.

    Cons

6 Paid Time off Days that can only be used for holidays and sick days.
    6months assignments or less
    Average Health benefits.
    No vacation.
Low pay for professional and licensed therapist.
Forced to participate in their 401K which you are vested with 3 years. You must opt out of the 401k.
Magellan MFLC employees don't get the same benefits as regular Magellan employees.

    Advice to Management

MAgellan MFLCs need vacation and more PTO days to have a an optimum quality of life and be more effective to services members and their family.

I worked at Magellan Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are no good reasons to work at this company; they are a nightmare and I'm truly not sure they will continue to be a company much longer the way they are run.

    Cons

Disorganization, terrible political in-fighting among the divisions, lack of credible management, no regard to employees or the value they bring.

    Advice to Management

Advice would be to clear out upper management, namely in the MMA and ICORE divisions and start over with people who understand the industry and how to lead.

I worked at Magellan Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None- other companies that provide MFLC's to military bases have higher standards, better training, competitive pay (comparable to what the market pays for education and experience of a licensed counselor)

    Cons

Very, very deceptive toward employees. Magellan will say one thing, after hire and commitment they pull the rug out from under you- with no remorse.
Magellan doesn't care about the welfare of military families in the least, as evidenced
by management practices. The people that contract with them will never know due to deception. They are all about money- that goes to the top, a lot like Walmart.

    Advice to Management

No advice, they just wouldn't get it.

    Pros

Ability to work from home. Interesting work.

    Cons

Dysfunctional management. Leader hired friends who had no professional backgrounds. Passed blame down the line. High turnover. Changing priorities and no sense of direction.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who have the experience in the areas that you do not. They actually may have good ideas.

I worked at Magellan Health (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits. Nice colleagues. Some flexibility in work schedule.

    Cons

It's all a numbers game. There is too much rhetoric. Demanding. Management is afraid to speak up to the customer, so they agree to ridiculous promises. Constant fear and threat of losing the contract. Minimal increases if any in salary. Outdated computer systems/programs.

    Advice to Management

Your staff are hanging on only because they are afraid of the current job market.
