Working from home has some benefits and having some scheduling flexibility can be helpful.

The position was more user friendly for employees when the program was owned solely by The Management Group. Since, the program became Magellan Health, the communication with management and especially HR, has suffered. Magellan is so large that it is impossible to speak with HR, as everything has to be communicated via an app link on the computer. This is extremely impersonal. The exempt position can include overtime hours and it is difficult to ever feel caught up with work. Case loads of 50 participants are too high for the amount of work expectations that have increased in the last 18 months to provide quality care for all participants involved. The increasing demands of work have caused a work/life balance that is no longer desirable.

Upper management does not seem interested in promoting from within and tends to allow subordinates to stagnate. Unrealistic project deadlines that do not allow for work/life balance.

Management from DC VP down needs to be revamped. No commuication from management No support from management Senior management either ignores or is now aware of how bad thier middle management is.

Work from home but work all the time. A few good workers but not recognized.

Too many leaders and would be leaders,too many new initiatives that don’t get followed through on. Dirty office politics. Working remotely is a great disadvantage. Blame shifting and work dumping occurs regularly from home office employees. Shaming employees for resting on weekends or getting a full nights sleep or exercise is common. Bragging about staying up all night is common. Days can be filled with meetings that seem to exist more to affirm status, loyalty and position rather than getting work done. Upper management takes offense easily accepts worship easily and is manipulated easily because of it. Gross political correctness towards the left affecting employee advancement. All this without an HR. I don’t mean an ineffective HR. I mean never ever talk to a human, HR.

Pay is good for external employees if you leave and come back. Work from home opportunities are great. Time off policy is wonderful. Management is supportive when they need something done and you aren't getting movement on projects. Generous merit increase and bonus programs.

Pay is not good if you're transferring internally. Went up 3 pay grades and they will literally only offer you 10%. If you went up one pay grade at a time, you may be ok. But if you move up, you still end up dealing w things from your previous position. They do not try to retain their great employees. They are very top heavy. Lots of chiefs not enough Indians. Every time you turn around you're getting a re-org email and they have pulled on another senior vp or CIO. Benefits stink. They only offer CDHPs. All high deductible. You are like a dime a dozen to these ppl. Whatever you do, don't ask for a raise. You won't get it.

Decent amount of vacation time if you get to schedule it. Co-workers were top notch & dedicated but undervalued.

They re-vamped our entire work structure for the worse & laid off the people who understood the system. Many left. The end result is primarily a system that not only doesn't work but takes 2-3 times longer to complete tasks with little accuracy. Employees treated like factory workers w/masters degrees, working 10-12 hours daily, no overtime pay and hard to get the time off when you want it. Daily confusion & frustration because management does not know what they are doing and therefore can't train new comers. Not supportive of employees. Little room for advancement or changing your position.

Pros

Great corporation that is incredibly supportive and rewards employees who are talented, diligent and dedicated. Management is always accessible and responsive to work as a team to produce the best outcomes for members.

Cons

The only con would be that ACHA (government health administration) did not renew Magellan's contract in Florida for a mental health specialty plan, which will is definitely going to disrupt the continuity of care in the community. Magellan is appealing the decision and I hope they win!

Associates were great to work with. Medical benefits we good, but dental was horrible Very flexible with respect to telecommuting A handful of new executives are trying to refresh the organization

Cons

Horrible culture - executive team fosters an environment of distrust. Constant fighting / backstabbing amongst leaders (EVP and SVP level) which is very evident to lower level management. Incredible levels of micromanagement within the executive team - they are not willing to let their leaders lead. Product offering is not competitive
