I have been working at Magic Leap full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The team seeks to amaze and exceed expectations. In constant search for improvement and new solutions. High standard and appreciation for the Testing/QA Engineers.

    Cons

Recruiting wait time might seem long, but it is because of the volume of applications and standards.

    Advice to Management

Continue the hunt for new talent with high standards.

I have been working at Magic Leap full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I found it extremely hard to research Magic Leap before I joined as there isn't that much info out there. Until recently the company has been extremely secretive about every detail of the company. The company has also grown tremendously growing from about 1200 employees to 1800 or so they are at now. Magic Leap is founded by a true visionary, Rony, whose mind is not bounded by space or time. Underneath him are...

    Cons

Experiences vary by team greatly. During crunch times, hours can be long for some teams. For me, the hours are typical for a strategic BD role. The company has more than doubled in size in less than 2 years and there are growing pains that come with this. I believe this has led to an experience which can vary greatly from person to person. The company has gotten better at translating vision to strategy to execution,...

I have been working at Magic Leap full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I relocated from California and recently joined Magic Leap at their Fort Lauderdale HQ. I had a great interview experience and so far a superb job satisfaction. Magic Leap has grown tremendously from an amazing secretive tech start-up to a fantastic mid-size global company. People here are amazingly talented and really passionate. Most people come from spectacular backgrounds and places, and have relocated here to Southern...

    Cons

    - Depending on your liking and background, Florida can be a great place to live in or really humid and hot for you. - This won't be a regular 9-5 job and you would not care if you are passionate about your work. - They have catered lunch twice a week, and free breakfast on Monday. There are lots of snacks, and coffee throughout the office. (This can be a pro or con depending on where you come from!) - Being at a start-up,...

I worked at Magic Leap full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work with smart people who usually won’t stay long.

    Cons

Political environment. Unbalance work load for employees. If you are smarter you have to work harder without appreciation. Need to fight for your basic rights.

    Advice to Management

Recognize and appreciate your valuable employee

    Pros

Really good people, made lots of friends Interesting tech, if you're into it

    Cons

Lack of high caliber people to learn from Scattered approach to development CEO thinks he is Willy Wonka (could be a pro if you're into that) Constant sense of uncertain future Low salaries

I have been working at Magic Leap full-time for less than a year

    Pros

+Overall process took about 3 months from start to finish +1st interview was with HR, 2nd round of interviews included a wave of google hangouts, and 3rd round of interviews was onsite +Met encouraging, motivated, and talented people throughout the process +Process was very transparent

    Cons

+Process varies for every candidate (2-3 months seems to a pretty quick process) whereas I have heard it take much longer for others

I have been working at Magic Leap full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Cool tech, some smart people

    Cons

Company does not value its employees. It is expected that you are supposed to run yourself into the ground in terms of working nights, weekends, etc - but without a moment of recognition or reward. Stingy stock grants when you first get hired and no way to get additional once you've joined. Leadership is an absolute clown show. There is no trust or transparency whatsoever. Advice to Management

Your practice of giving people fake and intentionally overambitious dates and deadlines to push people is cruel, ingenuine, and a poor business strategy. It makes everyone feel like they are perpetually failing and kills morale. Or worse, the targets are so laughably unrealistic to begin with, people don't even try to hit them. Figure out how to align the company's incentives with the employees that work there. Let them...
