Best things about Magna include a company that works hard to make sure their employees have fun. Golf outings, dunk tanks, sporting events. Working on cutting edge technology that will help improve life for everyone in the future.

    Cons

I did not get here sooner. Enjoying work and social aspects of Magna.

    Pros

It is decent pay and full time. Benefits same as ford. All shifts are good shifts to work so can't complain

    Cons

Sometimes not full 40 hours but next week maybe 45 hours. Check seems to vary highly which is a hassle

I have been working at Magna International full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I work in a central engineering office and there are some crunch times but overall the working environment has been pretty good for me. I've moved around a lot and have had 13 different managers here for various reasons, but don't worry I'm a unique case. I've gotten along well with most of them. They have compensated me pretty well I believe.

    Cons

Not all of the management is good. At my office especially it seems they are trying to turn our structure into one that nobody likes and it is starting to drive people away. Case in point; our office has had some contract engineering programs where they made people work 80hr weeks all summer due to poor program management. Almost all of those people have since left of course. Also the Magna corporate culture all but encourages in fighting. Each 'division' of the company is responsible for itself and does not have to play nicely (or even at all) with other Magna divisions. The thought is that this helps the company stay competitive and helps the job security of all of us, however it makes working at this company downright scary sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your people and try to have less turnover. You will be able to develop talent from within and only be stronger.

    Pros

coworkers are generally nice people. office environment is pretty relaxed,

    Cons

after the 2006 recession of the auto industry the company In general has changed from being run by executives that are passionate about cars to being run by bean counters

    Advice to Management

look at the talent pool within the organization, don't realize that your best employees are the ones that leave.

I have been working at Magna International full-time

    Pros

Working at the US headquarters in Troy, MI. There are a lot of great people at Magna, including the leadership at the top. The work is interesting, but a bit repetitive. The divisions of Magna operate fairly independently, which allows them to find their own work in order to be profitable. The benefits are pretty good, and the profit sharing check every year and the 401k matching are nice little bonuses.

    Cons

At times you are forced to work with other Magna divisions, and they are typically more difficult. We do do get off the amount of holidays that the Big 3 get. Working at the headquarters, there is a little bit of a big brother vibe at times.

    Advice to Management

Do not force divisions to work with each other, for minimal to no profit.

I worked at Magna International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay Magna is a successful company that is going places. It has great potential and opportunities are limitless if you are the right fit for a location

    Cons

Too much politics at this location. Not sure what goes on at other locations but it is really not professional at this one. There is backstabbing and gossiping and certain individuals will do ANYTHING to get you out if you don't allow them to use you as a doormat.

    Advice to Management

Manage. There are changes that need to be made and you know it, Don't make promises at interviews to lure people in and end up giving the opposite. I had a clueless manager.
