I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Magna International in Michigan. Unfortunately you left the review for the wrong company, as we are Magna-Power Electronics in Flemington, NJ. We do not have a facility in Auburn Hills, MI, nor do we employ Senior EMC Technicians. If you could kindly delete this review and post it on Magna International's page, that would be greatly appreciated. We, at Magna-Power Electronics (in Flemington, NJ), hope you identify a more positive experience at another company in Michigan.

    To much forced overtime

    Aug 9, 2021 - Operator
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits. Friendly employees. Good Location. Air conditioning, for the most part stable. Job security, good 401k. Somewhat clean

    Cons

They force you to work multiple 12's a week and do not hesitate to force you to work Saturday and Sunday, good luck getting time off. It is constantly rejected if it's a Monday or Friday. They have restricted your travel. They punish you for everything. There is no consideration for family and expect you to put them first. They will never take the operators side on anything and the supervisors and middle management are very poorly trained and will yell and belittle you for anything including stopping to get a drink.

Automotive IT plus having to manage the plant operations

Jun 29, 2021 - IT Manager in Shepherdsville, KY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good healthcare, very affordable. Retirement package is good. Good pay.

    Cons

Lots of micromanagement, have meetings to discuss meetings. Spend more time providing updates on status than actually working on the project. You'll be pinged every minute when there's an issue as to why it's not fixed yet. It's not fixed because you keep getting called about the status. Management is heavy handed and will belittle you if needed to try to get you to move faster. Had to constantly question my team members that I managed if they actually did the work. No way to take care of a team, but that's what management expected of you. No trust at all. I'm glad I left, money wasn't worth the anxiety I had to deal with. If you like this chaos environment, have at it, but it's hard to do anything like that with IT, which requires precise planning and effort. Since plant runs almost 24/7, don't expect any home life, but if you are home, better have laptop/internet handy. Team members had to bring radios and laptops into the bathroom with them to respond to calls. Not able to take a lunch either since the lunch breaks were staggered. Chained to desk for the entire shift. Some may enjoy this, but it's a tough sell. Only recommend this job to your enemies, as I would never recommend this job to a true friend.
