I worked at Magna International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits and good pay. The team really cares about the success of the plant and takes Quality and auditing quite seriously. LPA's are a big deal here, almost to the point of annoyance. Work life balance is great, but this is due to the fact that there isn't enough work at this location.

    Cons

Very clicky and lots of whispering gossip across the board, both salaried and hourly. Some of the line workers are really rude to new hires/temps and salaried staff with no real corrections from supervision. Not enough work to keep everyone motivated and busy - petty things become a really big deal as there is nothing else to focus on. Big disconnect between assembly and the quality/ engineering staffs.... Lots of resentment and finger pointing.

    Advice to Management

A stronger business approach to ensure the success of the plant instead of wasting money on decisions to ensure staff do not complain or disagree with aggressive business moves to keep the plant more profitable. Corporate management should have a stronger push to get this well run plant more business. Morale is in the dumps as a whole due to the team feeling left out of opportunities for growth.

    Pros

    Good pay and benefits.

Team is not aligned on how to manage suppliers and are not on the same page. You must fend for yourself and have very little guidance or training.

    Advice to Management

Be guided by KPI’s and performance metrics.

I worked at Magna International full-time

    Pros

good pay, some nice employees there

    Cons

sexual harrassment on almost a daily basis. Morale is low. I went into this place anti-union and came out pro-union. While most companies allow your health/dental insurance to end at the end of the month in which you quit, Magna ends it on your last day of the job. You'll be working with some folks who have a criminal record so always pay attention to your surroundings. Work/life balance is awful. If you are... working in a position no one likes you won't be able to get someone to work for you and you'll be working 7 days a week. So, this is a better job for a single person, not someone with a family.

    Advice to Management

Buy food for your employees once in a while or bring in ice cream. That place is hot as h-ll depending on where you are. Clean up your policies so you don't get sued. Realize that if you want to have employee retention, you'll need to have better schedules and not work your people into the ground. Treat people there as if they were your own family.

I worked at Magna International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good Pay. The best thing about Magna is that the hire from within. I knew a girl who started as a production technician making $14 and a year later she was a supervisor making a salary.

    Cons

No air conditioning Sexual harrassment Forced overtime Favoritism high turnover.

    Advice to Management

If a more than one woman complains to HR about the same man, then swift action should be taken.
