"Still a fantastic place to work despite the naysayers!"

    Pros

Open and friendly management, no-one hides away in an office
Flexible PTO (actually unlimited vacation policy within reason)
    Start up vibe
    Pay is competitive
    Fun and friendly office environment
    Great marketing events

    Cons

Some recent layoffs created a backlash
Culture changed after the merger, inevitable bringing two companies together
Negative attitude of some colleagues - just leave if it's that bad!

    Advice to Management

Dont listen to the debbie downers and negative attitudes on here, there will always be a few, especially after a round of layoffs, which most companies go through after a merger. This is an awesome place to work and people who have left have come to regret the decision later.

I worked at Magnetic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great people for the most part, learned a lot

    Cons

Some people are unprofessional and rude. Some sales reps don't know what they are doing. Lots of lay offs in the past year even more since I left in the fall - all teams affected besides agency sales for the most part, which is pretty ridiculous .

I worked at Magnetic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The office culture is great—there was free food and drink in the kitchen, frequent after-work drinks and activities, and even a teambuilding retreat. We also had unlimited vacation days.

    Cons

The management didn't exactly instill confidence in us that they were running the company correctly. There were multiple rounds of layoffs which it was pretty clear could have been avoided by smarter management.

    Advice to Management

Be more hands-on and keep investing in the product.

I worked at Magnetic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, stocked kitchen, company events and trips, unlimited vacation

    Cons

Total disorganization, confusion about the product vision, lack of judgement and they rush to make big decisions without thinking it through first. Good place to work for a bit but definitely plan your next move as soon as you start.

I have been working at Magnetic full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some fun perks, nothing too crazy.

    Cons

Pretty big divide between the old MyBuys team (located in MI) and the Magnetic team (located in NY). It's really night and day and the two don't work with each other at all. NY is all agency; MI is all direct.

    Advice to Management

Be more open, people are leaving on the direct side in droves and no one really acknowledges it.

I have been working at Magnetic full-time

    Pros

Magnetic offers flexible schedules, unlimited time off, snacks, and company-wide trips. The offices are in accessible areas, and they're comfortable and well stocked.

    Cons

If you looked at Glassdoor for Magnetic in 2015, you would think you were reading about 2 different companies. Ratings for the company and CEO were above 95%, but with products constantly changing, no vision, and no firm leadership, Magnetic is in a downwards spiral.

There's no product. If you take a second to talk with the dev teams, you'll learn quickly that there's nothing behind this company. Things are jerry-rigged together for clients.

There's a lack of leadership at Magnetic. In my own experience, it was common to be thrown under the bus by bosses in meetings even after being on the same page before the meeting. Everyone at Magnetic has their own agendas at the end of the day. It's hard to go to work each day when you're only there for yourself.

On the surface, the culture seems cool and relaxed. Digging deeper, you'll see many instances are borderline court cases.

Magnetic hemorrhages money on extravagant holiday parties, snacks and beer, ski trips, and gifts for clients (tickets to Beyonce in the first few rows, seats to Hamilton, jeans, shoes, etc.). If they made some cuts here, maybe they could have avoided the two rounds of layoffs in 2016. Layoffs were talked about as just a few people being let go, but ever since I started, people were laid off behind the scenes a few each month. Assuming this was to make the actual layoffs seem smaller than they were.

Additional Cons: "play hard, work kinda" mentality; people are regularly drunk at work; cult-ish vibe (only the cool kids survive); CEO frequently makes demeaning comments in group settings which as supposed to be "jokes"

    Advice to Management

Take a step backwards, and look at where you are. Magnetic has become too big for your own britches. If anyone will have you, sell yourself off to a major company.

    Pros

Awesome work culture and team. great place to have your ideas heard and activated should they align with company strategy. I've never worked somewhere so dedicated to it's employees' weel being.

    Cons

    None that I can recall...

    Advice to Management
