I have been working at Magnolia Audio-Video full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The clients and the people you work with are really good. The pay is good but it depends on your work ethic.

    Cons

I have been working at Magnolia Audio-Video full-time

    Pros

His job is a blast and involves a lot of custom integration for home video and audio distribution.

    Cons

There really isn't a down side to this job other than of course it being completely commission based.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be some type of base salary of some kind because many people do not have the skills to be able to make strait commission work.

I have been working at Magnolia Audio-Video full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a System Designer, you get to sell amazing Audio Video equipment. There is a comfort of knowing there will be great sales traffic because most MAVs are in a Best Buy. You are in charge of your own business. You decide how much money you want to make.

    Cons

Best Buy is having more of an influence over Magnolia. This takes away the specialized integrator that Magnolia used to be, now following corporate Best Buy rules.

    Advice to Management

    Train the new-hires properly.

I have been working at Magnolia Audio-Video full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Working with the latest toys

    Cons

Lots of off hour customer support, long hours, poor training , consistently overstaffed to minimize overall commissions

    Advice to Management

If you are going to call it a career position, then make sure your employees are paid accordingly. Have better training or a master system designer. Have a separate manager, perhaps as Master system designer

I worked at Magnolia Audio-Video full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice place to work, depends on the store you report to.

    Cons

Company is attempting to become a custom integrator. Will fall short due to the lack of training and experience by their design team.

    Advice to Management

District Managers hold your Sales Managers accountable for type of designs sold to your customers. By the sales force that report directly to you.

I worked at Magnolia Audio-Video full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, working with the best home audio, video, and automation technology in the world. Unique and professional sales position with opportunity for a lot of money

    Cons

100% commission with a draw. Retail setting. Terrible training. Irregular schedule. Black Friday. Retail management. No marketing assistance from corporate.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be much more emphasis and structure in the training to become a system designer at Magnolia. More hands on work with the electronics we sell, mainly how they work together and connect, would eliminate 90% of miscommunication in this job.

    Pros

You work Straight commission, if you work hard and sell a lot you can get paid well. Company average is probably around 50k but the good sales people can make 70k - 115k

    Cons

You work many hours, holiday season is crazy. It's retail so you can work late and long shifts. Other than that not a lot of cons.

    Advice to Management

    You guys are great
